Planning a quick 3 day trip in Nov. just DH and myself. Might have the resort narrowed down to YC because we will be at MGM and Epcot mostly. Is it worth an extra $200.00 for a waterview? The last time we stayed there it must have been a standard view because even though it was conceirge our balcony over looked the entrance to the YC. Are the garden views nice? I just can't decide anymore, a view is pretty important to DH and I look at pics at how pretty that area is at night all lit up.

Also hot tubs at YC - is there one by the quiet pool?

There is one hot (very hot) tub at the quiet pool and several at SAB. We just got back (9/11 - 9/17) from YC and reserved a standard room. We were pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a water view corner room (#4605) with views of the lake, Boardwalk and Epcot. We could watch Illuminations from our room through the side windows or from our balcony, very nice. If the view is important to you, then you should pay for the better view to be assured you get it. However, if you do not, then you 'may' be upgraded. It just depends on how busy the hotel is.

One of the reasons I always book concierge lagoon view is that the view is so great! I think concierge lagoon is the only way you're assured that the "water" view is of the lagoon too and not just maybe a pool. Sitting on the balcony at night looking across at the Boardwalk and the lights shimmering on Crescent Lake is one of the best parts about YC concierge. If I'm going to spend that much money anyway I go ahead and get the view. JMHO.

We paid for a standard view at YC and were upgraded at check in to a water view. We overlooked the quiet pool. This was very nice for a free upgrade but if I had paid for a water view, I would have been disappointed if I could not have seen the boardwalk and the lagoon. If you pay for a water view, you may want to specify a lagoon view on your reservation.

This is what I was talking about.....the only guaranteed lagoon view is in concierge....all other water views could be either lagoon or pool.

Our last trip we paid for a water view, but we pleasantly surprised at check in when we were upgraded (without asking for it) to concierge lagoon view!!!!!

I believe that is the only way to guarantee a lagoon, Boardwalk, Epcot fireworks view.

Not true. We booked waterview for Labor day weekend.Arrived late fri night and got a GREAT view. Got in our room and opened the curtains. We were greated by a perfect view of Illuniations, which we enjoyed every night! we ordered a treat from room service each night too. It was our best trip!!!

We were upgraded in June from a standard view to a water view. We had an absolutely perfect view of the Boardwalk and Illuminations every night. We could also see SAB pretty well from our balcony. If I had not been upgraded it would not have been a huge deal...but since we've had that fantastic view once, I think I would be extremely disappointed to not have it again.

We also enjoyed our time around the quiet pool (even more so than SAB), so I would not be disappointed in a room on that side. If you really like to swim, a ground floor room would be great...you could just walk right out to the pool area. We found it to be very quiet on that side of the hotel as well.

Hope you have a fantastic trip!!!!

Thanks for all your replies!
Dixipixi: Was there a hot tub at the quiet pool?

You can GET lagoon views with a water view but the only way to be GUARANTEED a lagoon view is to book concierge lagoon view. All other water views could POSSIBLY be of the pools also.

Yes there is a hot tub at the quiet pool. DH and I went 5 of our 10 evenings there. We both much preferred it to the ones along SAB. We were there in June and the parks were extremely crowded...but only once did we share the hot tub with anyone else.

DH also went once w/out me and he said there was one other couple there that night. Every time we passed the hot tubs at SAB there would be numerous people in there.

DH and I both decided that we would be perfectly satisfied with a room overlooking the quiet pool area.

We purchased a Water View room for our trip last week, and I requested a 4th floor room over SAB and we got it, room 4205. The view was of SAB and directly out to the BW, just great. We loved sitting out on the balcony at night staring out at the BW all lit up. I would say the extra $$$ for the Water View is worth it if you can get a view of the BW, but a quiet pool? I'm not sure.
