Help me decide! I can't make up my mind. I have stayed at YC pre-pandemic June 2019 and CR during Covid July 2020. I am thinking of booking a June 2021 trip. My thinking is below. If anyone has something to add or contribute, your opinion is welcome.

YC
Pros:
Stormalong Bay
Walkable to 2 parks
Referb rooms and no carpet
Quiet - It will just be college age DD and I
Park Hopper will now allow EP dinners
Skyliner/Friendship boat rides
Cons:
Bus to MK-big con as MK is my fave and I am a RD commando

CR
Pros:
Walk to MK - Big Big pro
Love the nostalgic feel from my first and only other CR stay in the 70s
Larger room
Loved the lake view room
Cons:
No Epcot monorail now - bus to 3 parks - big con
Carpet
No Stormalong Bay

Thoughts anyone?

YC rooms while not as big as CR are still pretty big and you can get a lake view there.

You do have to bus to MK, but they do start running pretty early so you can still rope drop.

For a summer visit, I would not pass up access to SAB and its wonderful sand bottom pool.

While I like both; I did have 1 con to add to each. At YC the lack of QS food was a big issue for us...I guess if you have park hoppers for each day you're staying there and don't mind the travel; it's not such a big deal, but we like to have off days and not having much in terms of qs options really anywhere at the Epcot resorts was annoying.

At CR, the elevators....last time we stayed at CR main tower was precovid and the elevator situation was stressful and obnoxious. I can only imagine it's even worse now.

All good thoughts - thank you!
I've only done a "split stay" between a Disney hotel and an off site hotel. Maybe changing from one Disney resort to another would be easier. I am going to think about this idea.

No carpet is not a pro for me. I realize the hard floors are probably cleaner and they are more modern, but I had the unfortunate experience of having someone with heavy footsteps (possibly wearing heels?) above me at CSR last year. The noise on the hard floors kept me awake. Carpet is much better for muffling sound. Going forward, I'll request top floor if I stay in a room with hard floors.

I'd also add that unless you plan to visit Riviera, CBR, AOA, or Pop, you won't really have a need to ride the Skyliner. You'll be walkable (or boat) to Epcot and DHS. I suppose you could take the Skyliner to DHS, but given that you have to transfer at CBR, it would not be the fastest or most efficient option.

Buses to 3 parks is a larger con if social distancing/capacity limitations on buses is still in place come June. With such limited capacity, people are arriving at bus depots 60+ minutes before they start running to ensure they get on the first bus of the day and make it for rope drop. This creates crowds and business at the bus depots, and it was not ideal on our CBR stay back in October. We ended up Ubering to the parks that we had to bus to, and just used the buses on the way back. It becomes less of a con if you're able to use rideshare. All of that said, its entirely possible that the Epcot monorail could be back in service by June, especially with park hopping coming back. That would make is you only have to bus to 2 parks, canceling this con out entirely since that would be the same as YC.

Between the two, YC gives me a better, more excited feeling. Love the atmosphere in that area and being close to Boardwalk/Swan for other options. In June, you'll have ample pool time as well.

We avoid bus transportation when we can. We stay at the YC/BC exclusively. We always have park hoppers so we cut through Epcot and take the monorail to MK. We just make sure that MK, Epcot hours coincide. Never a problem.

Thank you for your thoughts.

The bus situation above is what worries me the most. We stayed at CR in July, but park capacity was so low that the bus situation wasn't bad. We are "belly up - RD" kind of people.

Any tips for Ubering to MK from YC? Don't you have to go to the TTC if you Uber to MK unless you have an ADR at CR? The earliest Chef Mickey ADR that I can see (at the moment anyway) is 7:30. If we Ubered to CR and had breakfast, we'd miss RD I think.

Correct. You are only permitted to enter CR (by vehicle) if you have an ADR or you have a mobile order from their QS. We took Uber to TTC from CBR and it worked out very well, so I would not let that be a deterrent. Rideshare is dropped off in the same vicinity as other shuttles at TTC, so its a separate area from the parking lot. As such, it doesn't matter if the parking lot has opened yet. There were maybe only 50 other families waiting around 8:30am when they opened the temperature check tent, and we were on the first monorail to MK. No lines to get into the park when we arrived, and we were on Big Thunder by 8:50.

I just wanted to pop back in to thank everyone. Making decisions is always soooo hard for me. So I took the advice of some of you and booked a split stay! I am so excited that I could just burst.
Yay. That’s exciting. Have fun planning and keep us posted.

We did a split stay between the 2 this past November and it was perfect!!! My fave park is MK and the 1st park I must visit each trip. First 3 nights we stayed at CR and did MK and DS. Last 3 nights were at YC. Went to EP and HS and enjoyed the pool as we wound down our trip. The transfer was simple. I called down to bell services and they took my bags to YC. Once I was done at the park and got to YC they delivered my bags to my room. I enjoyed it so much I think I will try to split every visit between a Monorail resort and a boardwalk area resort for trips 6 nights or more.
