Hi. Planning a two week stay at YC next August. I am trying to decide whether to pay the extra and go for a Water View Room. Has anyone stayed in both Standard and Water View Rooms at this resort? Are the standard view rooms too close to the parking lots for a quiet read on the balcony? Is a Water View that much better? The difference in price is a quite a lot for two weeks and I want to make sure that it is really worth it. I would really appreciate your help.

Bump you up!

I am thinking about YC/BC for spring break.

How about the daybeds? Are they a full twin size or smaller like GF?

Thanks -

As to upgrade, if it means alot to you then pay the difference that is the only way to be certain you will get what you want.

There are some lovely views in Garden that do not overlook the front of the resort. I would make that my request and make it your only request. That way they have a better chance of giving you a garden view overlooking the rear of the resort.

As to the daybeds, they are similar to the ones at the Grand Floridian.

We paid for a water view room at YC and it was extremely disappointing. The trees had grown so tall you really couldn't see the water. So, for us it wasn't worth it. I would find out if the trees have been trimmed down recently or not, before paying for water view.

I've done both. The view really isn't overly important to me. I'm not in the room all that much anyway. The noise wasn't a factor on a the standard / garden view. My issue is more the incredibly long hallways at the Yacht Club. They seem to go on for ever. I try to ask for close to the lobby, non-smoking.

IMO, save the money on the view and treat yourself on something else -- nice dinner, massage, fireworks cruise.

I haven't stayed in water view, but I was in the YC standard view in early August. We checked in early (before 11) and despite having made room requests on our reservation (asking for: 1) a room near the lobby, 2) non-parking lot view, 3) full balcony and 4) non-smoking), we got a dark room that was quite a walk from the lobby and with a parking lot view! The room was also not cleaned thoroughly (we noticed hair on the bathroom floor). DM, who planned on staying in the room a lot during the day, was a little unhappy, so we went downstairs to ask for a different room -- one that was brighter and closer to the lobby. Since it was still very early, a nice CM gave us a choice of two standard rooms on the 4th floor that were very close to the elevators. One was overlooking the wedding gazebo and the other overlooked the back entrance and the lagoon. We chose the back entrance view, and it was beautiful. Looking straight out from the balcony, we could see the brick patio with the flowerpots, and all the people coming in and out of the resort. If we stood to one side of the balcony and looked right, we could see the boat dock and lagoon. So standard room views are really the luck of the draw, but it helps to make your requests at check-in and to check in early!

We had a water view at YC - it was a picture perfect view of the Boardwalk and Illuminations fireworks. It was a free upgrade and I think she gave me the one of the best rooms. It was definitely a dream view.

Here's the view of the wedding pavilion from our balcony. On the day we checked in, it had been prepared for a wedding. We didn't stay in the room to watch though.

We were in a waterview room here is what our view was.

definitely upgrade!!!!! Our room at the BC overlooked a roof (and that's it). At the YC I paid for a waterview. Perfect view of illuminations, which we enjoyed every night.

Thanks for your help on this. There are obviously a real mix of rooms in each category. I think I'll go for a Garden View. We are there is a chance we could always pay the extra while we ae there and upgrade ourselves part-way through the vacation.

bizeemom4, do you remember by chance what room number you had for the yacht club during your trip? we are getting married at the yacht club gazebo in march & i would love to have this view during our wedding week. thanks. :goodvibes
