Hi All !

Ok, I stayed at BC last year and we were upgraded to concierge level for free We were very lucky and we loved it. It was great. I think we are all spoiled now. Does anyone know how the upgrade system works? How do they choose who gets it? I was upgraded at the DI also way back when to a two bedroom condo style room instead of the little studio we had booked.

Anyhoo... I've never even stepped inside of the YC. Is it just a different colored BC? ...or are there some differences. I think the BC is going to be real tough to beat as it was the best vacation we've ever had while we stayed there.

Any ideas on how to get upgraded again please share.

I can't help you with how to get an upgrade...I think you just got lucky that time. But I can help with the differences between YC & BC. These are my favorite resorts. Love it love it love it!

I'd say the major difference to me is the "feel" and the view. I think BC waterview rooms (only way to fly!) are better because you get a much better view of Crescent Lake and the little white sand beach area. The BC is a bit more casual, although I don't find the YC to be stuffy like some folks do. I just love them both. If you liked BC, you'll like YC. You're still right in the middle of the action with a short walk to Epcot and MGM, the boardwalk area with shopping and dining galore, and for gosh sake you got Stormalong Bay. What more could anyone ask for?

I did get a free upgrade to concierge too. See, I was holding out on you. It was at the YC. But the reason I got it is because a wonderful friend of mine was a CM at the time and he did it for me. I'm not sure if there is a secret that anyone has for getting any kind of upgrade. I think the one thing you could do is be real, real nice and hope for the best.

Either way - YC or BC, you're going to have a blast.

It probably helps to show up at the slow times of year (like we always do), be polite, and keep smiling.

They also have me on record. When I booked the YC, all they asked for was my phone number and they had all my info... including Credit Card!

I'm excited to check out the YC. Thanks for your input.

You were indeed lucky to be upgraded. It just pays to be polite and simply ask if the upgrade is available. You might also read (if you haven't already) the post on this board regarding room upgrades.

In as far as the YC goes: I too, don't find myself in the "YC is stuffy" category. It just has that different feel. The lobby doesn't seem to be as active and buzzing as the BC lobby. The decor is a little more refined - as you would expect a YACHT CLUB to have (you know Admirals, Commodores and the like). The CM's are just as friendly, the rooms are just as nice (only the decor is different), and as the previous post said you've got the same location and SAB. I might also suggest you take a look at the YC/BC post on this board for specifc Q&A on YC.
