YC or Poly?

Hey guys!

We are going in November. Was able to get the Poly the week before Thanksgiving with Fd. I really kind of wanted to go Thanksgiving week so my kids aren't missing a lot of school . My kids are 16, 11 and 9. I am not so concerned with the 11 and 9 year old missing but my daughter is a junior and that is a lot to miss. We have no choice but to be there the 22-24 for an event. So I have to work around that weekend.

Usually Thanksgiving week the schools don't do too much. But with FD my TA said there is a lot that is unavailable:confused3 I would be able to do the Poly (which is the resort I wanted) the 19th to the 25th. But I would be able to do the YC the 22nd to the 28th(leaving on Thanksgiving).

We have five people in our party, so I obviously need the 5 people room resorts. I have stayed at the Poly in that past and loved loved it. I heard the YC has a great pool but am not sure how much it will be used that late in November?

I have been on tripadvisor, raveable, etc. The Poly has a report of bedbugs in 2012...so that skeeves me a bit but I know a lot of the rooms have been redone. I have also read the YC is a beautiful resort but most people say stay there if you don't have kids. My kids are older so although we will hit the MK , I am not sure how often. We also are leaving a day for Seaworld.

What are the pros and cons with each? I have NEVER even been near the yc, bc boardwalk properties so have zero idea what it's like. We loved the atmosphere of the Poly. I am trying to decide if I should pick the week I want or go to the resort I know I liked?

Would the YC be just as great?

Thanks so much for all the advice!!

I would pick the week I wanted especially if it meant that the kids would miss less school. The YC is a really nice resort and the Epcot resort area is great with teens.

The week of Thanksgiving is CRAZY busy! We visit WDW in July (which is crowded too) but Thanksgiving week is even busier than July. Both resorts are beautiful! The Yacht Club is a magnificent resort. It has the best pool on Disney property and lots of dining options plus it's walking distance to Epcot. I wouldn't hesitate for a minute staying there with kids!

If it were me, I would go the 19th-25th due to the crowds. You can't go wrong with either Poly or YC.

We prefer Thanksgiving as we know kids would miss less school. We went at spring break this year and that was BUSY but we were able to make it work. Until our kids are older, we prefer those times to avoid the HOT summer. I don't think you can go wrong at Yacht club!

Yea...I know it will be busy..but I just feel better about it I think. My older daughter is a junior with a tough schedule this year. My guess is things will be due before they go on Thanksgiving break. If I do the Poly she will miss 6 1/2 days . If I go busy Thanksgiving she will only miss 3 1/2 with the bulk during Thanksgiving week. I have to be there Friday, Saturday and Sunday before Thanksgiving.

I went Jersey week and was told it was very busy..but we thought it was manageable. But I am thinking you are saying Thanksgiving week is pretty bad?

I think not knowing the YC is what is making me hesitant. I know how much we liked the Poly and the convenience of the monorail. I also heard filling up the mugs and the quick service was better at the Poly. The Yc is going to cost me about the same to stay...so I wanted to make sure I was getting the deluxe out of it.
