YC or BC?

They are both wonderful!! It all depends on if you prefer a lighter decoration or a darker decoration. :earsgirl:

I am wrestling with this question too. I think I like the BC decor better, but what about balcony size? Aren't a lot of the BC balconies tiny?

The only reason I picked YC over BC is to have a full balcony. I too prefer the decor at BC

I like the BC because it is a slighlty closerwalk to Epcot and I like the brighter, "airier" decor.

YC decor seems a little "formal" to me.

Of course, if someone wanted to give me a free room at the YC, I'd certainly take it!!!!! ;)

Loved the whole resort complex - but I'll be staying at YC next time. The BC lobby was just a little too crazy. Don't get me wrong I loved the BC..and I thought I would like the "lighter" decor. But after being there - DH and I decided we would rather do the calmer (but darker) YC.

Which one do you prefer and why? Thanks for any info. :)

Beach Club:
Classy, not snooty
Cape May Cafe
Excellent Guest relations staff
Wonderful location
Great pool access
Helpful valet staff...above and beyond
Helpful baggage handling staff...above and beyond

We stayed at the beach club and really enjoyed it... we had a full balcony with an awesome view of stormalongbay... I know some rooms just have those useless little stand on balconies...

BC is also a tiny bit closer to the World showcase entrance :flower:

Did not stay at the YC but we did walk around the lobby when we stayed at the BC last May. I did not care for the lobby although it was beautiful in its own right. Reason being that it is dark and didn't appear to me to be as kid friendly as the BC. We had a full balcony with a view of Epcot, only request we asked for and was met. Watching Illumations at night from the balcony snuggled up with my 5 yr old is a wonderful memory! As posted earlier the walk to the International Gateway was a breeze as was the walk to the quiet pool that actually was just that...the quiet pool! Most people during our stay were at Stormalong so it felt we had the quiet pool to ourselves. Good luck with your decision! :)

jiggerj,
We will be at BC in Oct and have requested a fireworks view and balcony as you described. Where exactly was your room located? I can't quite figure out where we would need to be to achieve that view.

We were in room 2530. I did not ask for a specific room number as I had read that be doing so the probability was not so great that you would get it. It took forever with the hallways to get to the room but by the middle of our trip we figured out that the stairwell right next to our room led right outside. From our room you could see Illuminations and if you leaned over a little you could see where the main walkway around Cresent Lake split to the Boardwalk or Epcot. I would request a full balcony first in your request with an Epcot view. The cm at the front desk told me that they actually refer to those rooms as Epcot rooms. Good luck! :)

Another BC fan here. I love the theaming and relaxed atmosphere. I too find the YC lobby a little dark and too formal. We stay in the BCV so balcony size is not an issue for us. However if we were not staying in the villas I would have to seriously think about which to choose because of the whole balcony issue as a balcony is really important to us.

Thanks for all of your replies. I have 3 YC questions. Does YC have fewer children? We don't have kids yet. Can you see Illuminations from YC? If so, only from water view rooms? Is walking to your room there a long walk (like AKL can be)? :)

they areboth great and you can use storm along bay at both
i like yacht club its alittle more fancy like
byt my DH and and DS like beach club more laid back
both are great

I stayed at the BC-too crazy. The YC was like a breath of fresh air when we visited there.

I agree, susy. The Yacht Club was less crazy. We stayed at the YC, but visited the BC and we were surprised at the # of kids running through the lobby in bathing suits there. In the YC lobby, there was none of that. It was much quieter. Of course, we could've visited on an off-day. I think that if you don't have kids, the YC is the better choice, but that's just MHO.
