YC ? Need to call soon....

I plan to call very soon to book my YC stay for Pres. Week '06 and want to confirm room request info. This will be our first stay at YC.

I plan to book a standard room. Thinking I will request the following:

"standard view: non-smoking, garden view"

Does this make the most sense when hoping for a non-parkinglot/roof view? We wouldn't mind being on a lower floor if it was a garden view so I didn't ask for an upper floor. Do I need to "request" a balcony or do all YC rooms have balconies?

Well standard view is garden, but garden can overlook the parking lot and convention center. I know because we had one, yuck! Not all rooms have a full balcony, so if that's important to you, I'd put that on the request also.

Basically, you want to list them by priority so either:

non-smoking, full balcony, water side room

or

non-smoking, water side room, full balcony

Have you seen this site yet, YC Resort Layout ? It's a bit outdated, but does show all the floors and room numbers. It might give you a better idea of what area you'd like to request, or at least you'll have a range of room numbers to request when you check-in.

I thought it was the BC that had some full and some standing only balcony's. I thought I read that all of the YC's rooms have regular balcony's. Am I wrong?

Description of YC:

One nice feature is having the bathtub/toilet separated from the rest of the rooms. The double sinks are located outside the true "bathroom." All rooms have a sizable balcony, great for reading the complimentary paper delivered to your door every morning; balconies have a table and two chairs. Rooms also have a small safe, located in the closet, in which you can store your valuables such as jewelry, airline tickets, passports, travelers' checks, etc. For bigger items, storage facilities may be available at the front desk.

Not all YC rooms have full balconies, but the vast majority do. I have twice stayed in "garden" view rooms that overlook the YC wedding gazebo and those rooms had no balcony at all (and this was on the concierge level!).
