Trying to decide between these two resorts for a trip at the end of July. MK is our favorite park followed by Epcot and HS. We probably won’t do AK. We will likely visit MK on several days. We stayed at YC a little over a year ago and loved it and it proximity to Epcot and HS. We have never stayed at CR. The kids really loved the YC/BC pool even though they didn’t stay in it long since it was cold in Nov. We are thinking that being close to MK would have its advantages since we go to MK so many days, but we are torn. Since it will be so hot, we are thinking we will go to the parks for rope drop and then go back to the resort around 1:00pm for resting and maybe pool. We would probably go back to a park for a few hours in the late afternoon/evening. Any thoughts or advice?

Being able to walk to mk is amazing. Also a quick monorail to Epcot and a boat ride from Epcot to Hollywood so really you only need to bus to AK. With the heat and kids fast travel times is amazing and my vote for cr.

Personally, if you’re planning pool time I would pick YC. Their pool is great and CR to me is my least favorite deluxe. I think the walk to MK is nice, but even if you go to MK multiple days, since you can walk to 2 parks from YC to me that balances it out.

Is your trip long enough that you could do a split stay? We love the walking path between CR and MK. With young kids, that path was priceless to us. However, the pool is not nearly as fun as SAB (YC/BC pool) that you said your kids love, so that's a factor. Also, you've stayed at YC, so you know the perks of being able to walk to 2 parks. We do like to walk through Epcot to catch the monorail to MK, but we're rarely in a rush so it works well for us. That way, we don't have to take a bus anywhere if we skip AK. So, if you can split your stay, you can focus on MK when staying at CR. Then go to Epcot and HS when staying at YC, and also make your kiddos happy with the pool they love :sunny:.

But if you can't split stay, my vote goes to YC.

They both have advantages, CR being proximity to MK, but in July, I vote for YC for the pool access.

Thanks for the responses so far. We plan to be there for 7 nights but I have always been uncertain about split stays. I hate packing up and moving.

How is the pool at CR? I am afraid the YC pool might be super crowded in the summer with the heat.

The room at CR is noticeably bigger. It has a quiet, relaxed vibe in the garden wing. The YC pool is so much better, though. The CR pool has an okay slide, and that is about it for features. I would be happy with either place, but my kids would vote YC.

I've been debating this for a stay in September. We have stayed in CR garden wing before and we really enjoyed it. However, it was December and we did MVMCP so wanted to be able to walk back after that and spent a lot of time at MK with a toddler. The pool wasn't the best (simple compared to YC in my opinion), but it was quiet (it was hot the December we were there) so our little one enjoyed that it wasn't packed. The room size was definitely a plus as well. One other thing that may be of consideration is the sink/shower layout at CR. The sink and shower are in the same area. Just mentioning it as I know some people who don't care for that setup.

I would do a split stay. These two resorts are the perfect combination and give you walking access for everywhere you are going. CR is amazing for easy access to the MK, and the pool is a plain old fashioned concrete pool with a slide, but it is never crowded. The YC has access to Epcot and DHS plus has the amazing Storm Along bay.

If you are only doing one and planning pool time everyday, my vote is for the YC (much as it pains me, as I truly love the CR so much more).

We’ve done both a few times each. But DS would have always picked YC for the pool alone by the time he was 8 or 9. CR pool was “boring” by then.

If you are planning on spending many days at MK, I would pick CR. Traveling from YC to MK is not terribly convenient.

For me I’d rather deal with the bus ride from Yacht Club to MK even for multiple days than one day of the hassle from CR or the other monorail resorts to Epcot! If you get unlucky with your timing that ride can take forever!

I’ve heard a lot of people do well with split stays and I can see the benefit. I had to do one last trip because I added days and original resort wasn’t available for extra days. Unfortunately, I got sick and had really wanted to go back to the hotel to rest that afternoon, but my room wasn’t ready. And even once it was then I had to wait for my suitcases. I wasn’t particularly fond of being homeless, but I think of my day would’ve gone as originally planned it would’ve worked out fine.
