Anyone been lately? Going Aug 19 and have a Cabana reserved for the 20th. Curious how crowded stormalong bay is and whether we really need a cabana - there are only 2 of us - adults. We have stayed here numerous times but this is the first time I have decided to rent a cabana. My hubby was asking if it really was that crowded and why we couldn't just grab a chair and hang out. Of course, there is some magic in the cabana and the service. He is good either way but trying to figure it out. Any ideas? Advice?

The end of August is considered a slow period. Many schools are either back in session or families are busy getting ready for school. We have been to SAB this time of year and it hadn’t been busy at all.

True the cabanas are an expense. But we have found they give us less stress - no worries about finding chairs that aren't on top of other families. Also, we can spread out. If we want sun, we can move to sun. If we want shade, we have plenty. No need to be there at the opening bell to get chairs either. I doubt you'll see the lines to get in like they had at SAB earlier this summer, but there will still be plenty of folks looking to cool off on a hot August afternoon.

My DS13 and I stayed at YC in mid-June and had zero issues finding two chairs together. We don't really sit in the chairs for very long (always in the pool or on the slide), so I never, personally, saw the value in renting a cabana. However, if you plan to lounge for a few hours and would rather have a quieter spot, the cabana would certainly be nice.

I've always found getting loungers in a shady area difficult at SAB. The pool itself doesn't tend to be overcrowded, but the chair situation can be challenging if you have preferences for your chairs, because people will "reserve" the chairs all day with their stuff.

I have to say that I had never rented a cabana before one of my recent trips. I did it because we had a baby with us & I thought he could take a nap in the cabana comfortably while others swam. Our day was pretty much a disaster as stormy weather kept interrupting our cabana time. We had to leave three separate times because every time we’d set foot in the cabana, they would close the pool! However, we enjoyed the heck out of that cabana! I’ve never felt so spoiled in my life! This was at The Grand F, & I assume the cabana amenities are the same. We had planned to spend most of the day there & we easily could have. I’ll probably never rent one again but it was very special to do it once! So if you want a memorable day that makes you feel movie star-ish, I’d do it just for the experience!

We stayed at BC for the first time in July and had no trouble getting loungers for the four of us. Even getting there later in the day or after dinner we were able to find them. WDW was definitely busy (super long waits for attractions) and BC was fully booked, so either people weren't spending their days at the pool or we just got lucky every time we went. I'd say out of the 8 days were stayed, we went to the pool 6 times.

At SAB I'm more interested at bar seating. LOL Have to say until we never enjoyed SAB with kids because of the size and the obstructed vision. We tend to like a table at SAB versus a cabana.
