I have never stayed in the Epcot area. Looks like myself and 2 friends are escaping for a weekend in June (thanks to SW great rates!). I have the BC on hold right now.

Any input?

HI, Excellent choice! Short walk to Epcot and MGM is a boat ride away. Also if you like time by the pool the BC/YC has the BEST pool on property! It is also a nice walk to the BW area for dining and entertainment in the evening. Have FUN!! :cool1: Joan

Hi Worcester, Saugus here :wave2: . If it were a vacation with a bunch of friends, I think I'd lean more towards the Boardwalk. I know it's just across the lake from the BC/YC, but it seems so much livelier. Lots of shops, great places to eat right outside your door, plus the night life and fun on the boardwalk. It's sort of more in the middle of Epcot and MGM. I would guess about 10 minutes to Epcot and maybe about 15 to walk to MGM.

Unless you're really into pools, because Stormalongbay at the BC/YC is pretty incredible. In the warmer weather, it can get very crowded, but that's probably true with most Disney pools. We stayed at the YC in December and it was nice, but I think I'd choose the BW next time around.

Kim, I think you'd be happy at either of them. They are both great resorts. Just make sure that the girls head over to Jellyrolls one night (or more) :)

Thanks guys!! I think we will be happy at either!!

Karen,

I was just thinking of you...telling my DH that I really want to go to Jellyrolls!! (never been there!!) And of course, when I think of Jellyrolls I think of you and that picture!! Oh, and diving!! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I do a girls only trip every year and we always stay at the BW! It is the best. We enjoy the quiet pool and everything the BW has to offer. We are going again in May, but could not get a room at the BW so we are going to try the AKL for a change. I feel very disloyal to my friends at the Innkeeper's Club at the BW. We will miss the terrific service we get, but will try something different!!

Stay at the BWI...actually you should go with a 1 br villa

better for adults....BC has too many kids...because of pool...found BW much better suited for me. ...my kids are now 14,15 and appreciate it much more

BW has quiet pool which usually is not crowded...lots of chairs to choose from
never a wait.
plus BW side has many restaurants, nightclubs, etc. to choose from....

excellent choice

have tons of fun

Should I request a certain area if we stay at the BW?

Anyone? Should I request and upper floor with balcony or first level with patio?

Were you thinking of booking water or garden? From what I've read, if you book garden, then you should request a room overlooking the quiet pool. Otherwise, with a standard view, you might see mostly parking lot. Not sure about a ground floor or balcony. If you're room is in that interior garden area, I think a walk out patio would be beautiful. There's actually a thread on these boards that has lots of information about the Boardwalk, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=234355.

Here's a good sized map of the BW and this one even has the area's color coded with a range of room numbers. They might give you a better idea of what area you'd like to be in.

I love all three :) Tough choice!! But I'd give the slight edge to the BW.

I am a DVC member and if you can believe it, I prefer the decor of the BWI rooms! So, if you guys don't mind sharing a standard hotel room, that would be my choice. I just love them. If I were you I'd request a water view, and specifically request overlooking the Boardwalk...and ask for a higher floor. You may not get higher than floor 3 because concierge is on the other 2 levels primarily, but it never hurts to ask. I personally don't like ground floor patio rooms (and many do, they are pretty! but I prefer balconies) and those are mostly garden view anyways.

You can't go wrong at any of them. BC/YC is very nice too and that offers Stormalong Bay. But I think the BW is a bunch of fun for a friends trip!

My vote would be to splurge and get the deluxe concierge room at the Boardwalk! (..one time we got it at a passholder rate and the room was right above the bakery)

have fun! :)

Jill

P.S. we used to live in Whista up behind Gold Star Blvd. before we had kids..

It's really happening! Just booked th flights!! Woo hoo!!!! O.K.....I'm going to change to BW.....I think this will be PERFECT!!

Thanks all!

JESW...I'm over near Assumption!

Another BWI vote!

At the advice of many on these Boards, 4 of us "girls" took a weekend trip to BW in Feb. We also stayed CL in a Deluxe room (at a Passholder rate) over the Bakery. We LOVED the BW! The staff was wonderful, Flying Fish was DIVINE and imho, the BW's Jellyrolls is the best dueling piano bar anywhere. We walked to MGM, walked to Epcot. If you possibly can, please do yourselves a favor and book an Illuminations Cruise. We had an early dinner at Flying Fish and then ran by Concierge Lounge for a glass of wine and headed to meet our captain at the BW dock. It was such a neat evening. :wizard:

Have a great time with the girls! Friends are so important!!! :flower: :sunny: ;)

Have a great time! My sister and I took a girls only trip before Christmas and we've decided that it will be a new tradition from now on. It was a totally new Disney experience. Soooo much fun!

Live it up! I agree - friends are so important.
