By now, I feel certain that everyone has heard of the tornados that occured Saturday in Yazoo City and Wier, MS. If not, there was an EF4 tornado that was on the ground for 147 miles and devastated many towns in our great state and took the lives of 10 people. I live about 30 miles south of Yazoo City. While, I am so thankful my family was not harmed, it could have just as easily been us.

The news here has been covering this devastation pretty much all weekend. While there are so many incredible stories of survival, there are just so many sad stories. Two stories in particular that really sad: A mother died protecting her three young sons and two small children were killed after they were snatched from their father's arms by the tornado.

If you all think about it, please continue to keep these two cities in your thoughts and prayers. The next few days are going to be really hard on many of these families as they lay their loved ones to rest and start the process of healing and rebuilding these towns.

I live 2 hours south of Yazoo and the weather the other night was awful here too. I woke up to the sound of hail hitting our house during the night. It sounded like someone was standing on our roof pouring buckets of rocks on it.
I pray for all the people that were affected by the storm and the poor people who lost their lives. It is really heartbreaking. I can't even begin to imagine the surviving family members grief. :sad1:

I am well south of Yazoo ( in Hattiesburg) but we were expecting to get that same weather here. We dodged the bullet but sadly too many of our fellow statesmen didn't. My prayers are with all the families in those areas.

I cannot even begin to imagine what that father (as just one of the victims) is going through after losing his children that way. It is just too sad for words.

I agree. We were plenty worried in Petal on Friday night and Saturday, especially since DH was out of town on business. My cat didn't come out of the closet until late Saturday afternoon. I felt so fortunate when I heard all the reports.

All of the people in your state affected by the storms are in my prayers.
