I redeemed 13000 airmiles for four 7-day hopper passes for the family! :cool1: :cool1:

Now, the question is, can I upgrade these to 10 day passes at the park? This way I can use them for a couple trips? Or should I start collecting airmiles again? LOL

You should be able to upgrade when you get there. There had been past discussion and some suggests using the pass for at least 1 day before upgrading. You have to upgrade to the ones that don't expire. Unless you are only going for 2-3 days versus 7-8 days for your upcoming trip, i don't know whether it's worth it. The non-expiring ability costs around 90+.

Here is the sticky from the Theme Parks Attractions and Strategies board that discusses everything to do with tickets. See point #6

You can definitely upgrade. You would have to pay the difference between your 7 day all inclusive tickets and the 10 day all inclusive tickets (I'm presuming you ordered the all-inclusive tickets because of the number of points you redeemed for 4 tickets). If you bought discounted tickets you would need to use them first before upgrading otherwise WDW makes you pay the difference between the upgrade and the discount. It has been reported that those upgrading tickets received from Airmiles don't need to use them before upgrading likely because Airmiles buys the tickets at full value and makes them available to you for airmile redemption. To play it safe though you might want to enter a park first and then head to Guest Relations to upgrade.

Congratulations on having 13000 Air Miles points. I have 237!!! It's going to be a long time before I go anywhere!

Thanks everyone!

Yes, I got the non-expiry option. For this trip we are doing two days at WDW (and then 7 day cruise), then in 2010 we will be doing 8 days. I'll check into it when I go in Nov.

Thanks :)

I'm still trying to get as many Air Miles as I can for one 7-day pass. I have the BMO credit card (1/$15) which I put everything on - I get funny looks at Starbucks and Tim's! What's your secret to collecting so many Air Miles? :rotfl:

congrats

Did they charge you any taxes. i went to redeem my 5600 points for airfare and the taxes plus purchasing another full airfare for my son worked out to be 200.00 more than flying out from Syracuse for the 3 of us

We just got our airmiles flights for our December trip. I still need about 1000 airmiles before I have enough for four park passes. I'll get there though!

We went in January 2007 with our airmiles too!

We have a Mosaik Mastercard and use it for everything (purchases, bills, etc) and then just pay it off. We also shop at Safeway and look out for all their weekly airmile deals. For example last week when you purchased 5 select dairy products, you got 50 airmiles. My mom also comes on the trips with us, so she helps collect the miles too. She gets a lot of miles through the pharmacy at safeway - they give 7x the base amount of airmiles. If you are close to the numbers of airmiles you need, you can also purchase a certain number of miles for 30 cents each. Not a bad deal.

You still pay the taxes/airport fees on the flights, but it is still a good deal. We live in Winnipeg and the airline deals to Orlando are not good.

DH is in England right now on Air Miles and there are enough left for another good trip. We have no credit cards that supply the account but re-did our kitchen this past year and each time something arrived we waited for triple air mile days to pick up! Amazing how well it worked!

I also have the Mosaik cc (1/15) and we're big spenders (we buy everything on cc and pay it off, including most bills, etc).

No, we didn't have to pay any taxes....free free free!! Woo Hoo!

I have my park passes already, we got 10 day no expiry last time we went, and used only 5. Now i'm just trying to save enough airmiles to fly down. We have enough for 1 ticket at the moment! :)

I think she meant no taxes on the passes?

I believe everyone has to pay the taxes and airport fees. Just as you would if you purchased the airline ticket.

Ahhh yes, thought that after. My DH paid almost $500 in taxes on his 'free' ticket!:confused3

Yes, sorry to clarify no taxes on the passes.

In the past I've had to pay ridiculous fees on airfare, so now we fly out of the states paying less than taxes actually cost.

We had thought briefly about flying from the US. We decided against it as we are a good 9 hours away from a major airport. We are going in December and and you can never tell with the weather, plus traveling with 2 under the age of 3 in the van for that long is a LONG time! LOL

Yeah we use the bmo CC as much as possible too. We have collected 3500 in about 10 months. We need 2000 per person to get to Orlando- return. With taxes we will still end up paying probably around $700 for 3 people , but thats better than $2000.
