Whew! I am so relieved that I finally booked our flight for our trip this summer! I usually try to book it first, but it was just too high at the time I needed to book DVC.

I'm sure that there are more of you out there that checks the airline prices on a regular basis like me!:rotfl: Well, I have been checking Alaska's prices along with all the other airlines since we got home last year!:rotfl:

The prices were getting to the place where I was getting ready to purchase and then they announced a new sale starting on 4/14 for 14 days (A new city 30% off each day) I decided I was going to wait for Orlando to come up and then I read the details today and realized it wasn't going to work for us anyway, because travel had to be done by June 19th and we are not going until Aug. So, I told my husband that I was just going to bite the bullet and pay for our tickets today and low and behold, the flight I had been watching went down $50 p/p! Needless to say, I jumped on it! I ended up getting our airfare for about $220 with all fees included!:cool1: I did have to use some miles and a companion fare ticket, but I'm so glad that is done!

I just checked the prices again and they have gone back up!

Congrat's!:goodvibes

I know exactly what you mean. I just booked last night too. I have never waited like this. I have been waiting for Southwest to extend it's booking period for months.:surfweb:

I hope you have a wonderful trip.:thumbsup2

Congrats on your treasure hunt! LOL:thumbsup2

I booked yesterday too on Southwest for our October trip. Indy to MCO for $137.20 roundtrip p/p, including fees! :cool1:

Same thing...we were waiting and waiting, and then finally got Southwest RT for @ $165 pp from RI to MCO. Not the best, but the lowest it has been for 4 months or so. The last time we traveled, we got RT for @ $110 pp...

Checked today and the same flights went up to $260, so I am relieved I booked when I did!

Congratulations! I know how nerve racking it will be. Unfortunately, the airfares from Syracuse, especially on Jetblue, are not that great. I booked a month ago for our August trip when they were around $250.00 round trip, not that bad.

They have since gone UP so I am happy, but I check each day just in case they go back down so that I can get my credit. My DH and I are flying out in December so any credit we could get can be used toward that!!!!

we have been looking at nearby cities to see if by driving 2 houirs we can get a better deal. It works occaisionally.

Oh! I obsess over booking our airfare! I really, really, REALLY recommend setting up daily fare alerts on kayak.com. They will email you every morning with the latest fares. There's a graph too that you can watch all of the ups & downs since you set it. The alerts last for about 3 weeks but you can just click "renew the alert" when it gets down to the last 5 days. I keep them "on" so I can watch whatever we book to see if it goes down. Many airlines will give you a credit if you see your fares go down if you call them. This happened with us for last summer on Air Tran. It went down after I booked & I called them. They didn't refund us the money but they gave us a credit good for a year which I was able to use when I booked our flights for this summer!!:thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Congrats on your deal...but keep watching, you never know if you might be able to work an even better one!!

Think long and hard about doing that...we did that once driving an hour and 3/4 to save $50 per person (times 5 people) to save the money...NOT WORTH IT! Even saving the $250 was not worth the extra time especially on the way back. Just my opinion...

We booked our September air fare about 6 weeks ago.

I'd been watching air fare for awhile, and RT tickets were running in the mid 300's from our local airport (Bradley).

Lo and behold....from one day to the next...fares dropped almost in half. We ended up paying about $180 a ticket (with taxes and fees) round trip, NON-STOP, through Delta.

A couple weeks later...prices went right back up. In fact, they're STILL up...back in the mid 300's.

It's nice to find a deal, eh? We jumped on it, and I was gambling that SW's fares wouldn't be lower. So far (and they JUST opened them up, so I'm sure there are sales coming), they're not. Not even close!

I'm still waiting for Delta tickets from Bradley to drop for July.:rolleyes1
They had $89 tickets but I only saw them through June.
I check every day now they are back up to $172 one way!
They had a few $116 fares but we don't want to leave MCO at 10am !
We really don't want to fly SW... but we might have to.
We are a party of 9 with some small children plus we don't want to deal with having to cart our own luggage back to the airport when we leave.
I'm going to wait about two more weeks then I will have to book something...:confused3

Just curious...what is wrong with Southwest? I personally love them...

I think $165 RT is a great price! When are you going? I only ask because the dates for our trip just opened up yesterday for SWA . At first they were listed at $119 one-way then I checked today and they're $134+ one-way!! I guess we'll just keep an eye on them. I'd be thrilled if they'd get down to $165 RT - we have to buy 5 tix and I hate opening up that credit card bill after we buy them :scared:

We are going in June out of Green Airport (RI) to MCO. When I booked, I was able to get $79 one way, so with taxes, etc. it was around $165-$170 per person (also 5 people). It really helped that we had a SWA credit, so we actually paid less, but that was what the actual rates were when we booked around 4 weeks ago. Now it seems to be $107-$134 one-way depending on the day and flight. Good luck!

We leave in 9 days! When we booked back in Feb, we got MSP (Minneapolis) to MCO on Northwest (Direct) for $138 Roundtrip!

I'm still waiting for our Nov trip, we have 22 of us going and coming back at different times and prices are in the mid $300s. Hoping for a sale soon.

Thanks Annie, I am set up on several sites year round. I think airfare is kind of like the stock market! :rotfl: I have been watching it bounce all over the place with no rhyme or reason! It does seem like there are better deals last minute where you used to get a better deal planning way in advance.:confused3 I just don't like to leave it to chance and wait until the last minute. That is just too nerve racking for me!

I don't know if Alaska gives you a credit or refund if the airfare goes down. We prefer to fly them and most of our miles are with them. We like the night flight coming from the West Coast and they have minimal wait time between connecting flights. I also like that they don't charge for the first bag! I was considering Southwest, because you can check two bags free, but they didn't have any deals right now for where I live. That checked bag fee adds an extra $30 on to every ticket!:sad2:

Grrr...this is our biggest issue with going to WDW. The airfare is the painful part of the trip. People are always asking why we go to WDW vice DL most every year. BTW, we always do a few DL trips for the weekend each year, too, but they just don't get it unless they love Disney.
My kids love to fly on a red-eye on the way there and it works well for us, but it is expensive.
Thanks for the kayak.com recommendation. I will definitely check it out and hope for a good deal!

We just booked our fare from ORD to MCO Tuesday nite. Prices had been over $300 round trip but went down to $89 each way for our Sept trip. The next day we checked and the prices for our Dec trip were at $79 each way so we booked that too! I know it's a long way off but it makes me feel better. Good luck to everyone trying to get cheaper fares.
