Yay! My baby's getting a tooth! (never thought I'd be this excited)

That's right, my little 5 month old, Jacob, is cutting his first tooth! Altogether now... awwww! The thought of his teeth coming in had always seemed like a mundane, uneventful step in his development, so why did I get so excited this morning when he was chewing on my finger and I noticed his bottom had a definite sharp edge to it?!

Well I don't know, but I'm excited anyway! :woohoo: :cheer2: My little baby is growing up! :teeth:

Congrats! I was pretty excited too, but I had to wait twice as long as you-my daughter was 10 months old when that 1st tooth finally broke through.

Awwwwww. It's a special day, mom.

Hannah's first tooth popped through on Mother's Day. I considered it my gift.

Just wait and see how emotional you will be when he loses his first tooth. (I cried)

It's cute now, just wait for the screaming and incessant drooling to start! ;)

Oh, that reminds me, is it typical for the tooth to appear and THEN the fussiness/drooling/pain start? I had always thought that stuff happened prior to the tooth breaking through the gums, and he hasn't really had any noticeable fussiness (other than the usual, which isn't that much). I am just curious because I have never gone through this before.

My DD never got that fussy when breaking a tooth. Boy did she drool though both before and after the tooth came through. It was like a faucet. I invested in a lot of terrycloth bibs to match her outfits.

I forgot to add, congratulations on your DS's tooth :) .

With my DD#1 (she 2.5yrs), she didn't cry or whine at all until she started getting some of her molars. She literally had 8 or 9 teeth before she got ugly.
Now, DD#2 (she's almost 7m)has been drooling, screaming, crying, clingy, etc since her bottom teeth started coming in a few months ago. They literally took almost 3 months to come through!! You could see them right under her gums but they just wouldn't break through.

It really depends on your child, but it sounds like you may have a DS who won't be too fussy while teething :cheer2:
