It was almost $10 cheaper at chapters online than in store, so I ordered it Friday. It came today!

Spent a bit of time going through it...love how a page takes approx half an hour...makes it so much easier to peg where we will be at certain times of the day, and a rough idea of where we need to pre scout hotels for our first night on the road.

Now to show it to DH without the kids seeing it! I want to use it for one of the clues for our Christmas surprise reveal!

I will plug this book to anyone who takes this route. Not just because it's indispensable (it is), but because Dave Hunter gives the sort of customer service you rarely find anymore. I emailed him back in 2010 with a question--we'd be leaving Florida the day the latest edition was published, would I be able to pick it up in bookstores that day? He emailed me back within the hour, and told me he'd put me on the mailing list, which ensured I had the book in my hands three weeks before our trip and a month before its official publication. AND at a substantial discount.
Incidentally, the two hotel chains he highly recommends--Drury Inns and Jameson Inns--I can vouch for both. Fantastic value.

Thanks for the hotel tip! We'll watch for them long the way.

Can you tell me which edition you have? We have the 17th version.

We love our Along I-75 book and never leave home without it when traveling south.

I also bought our last book through Chapters and the price was $10 cheaper than Dave's discount (plus he charges for shipping) and CAA's member discount. Plus I think we got free shipping also. :thumbsup2

Drury Inns are spectacular. They are a privately owned company& each hotel is owned by he company, not a franchisee. Google their reservations website & check out the hotel features. I can happily vouch for the north Dayton, Ohio location.

I'll chime in for Jameson. They don't have all the Drury perks--I've never actually seen a place that does; what kind of hotel offers not just the standard free breakfast but a free light dinner and free booze as well? But Jameson has its own claim to fame, and that is its Dreamium mattresses. If there was one downside to Drury for DW and I, it was the bedding, which was not very comfortable at all. The Jameson? Probably the best sleep we've had away from home.
Also, Jameson offers a no-questions-asked money back guarantee on your stay. We were impressed enough at the first one we stayed at to immediately book a second stay coming home.

Question....I can see in the book the notes for where jameson is on our route, but when I look online, there isn't a jameson listed for that area. And when you google jameson in that town, the hotel comes up under a different name. Are some of them not jameson anymore? I was specifically looking at the nor listed for Dalton....

The main issue we are going to run into is that we are a family of 5, so there are a few places that can't accommodate us.

You'll notice things like that when you travel with this book. Hotels and restaurants open/close/change over so often, its hard for Dave Hunter to keep up.

I googled Jameson Inn Dalton Georgia and up came Howard Johnson, so it looks like its no longer a Jameson. Depending on management, its either still a nice hotel or its not.....its really a gamble at this point.

That *is* the only downside to that book. He updates it every two years and he notes in the intro how much has changed...it's often close to thirty percent of the eateries and twenty percent of the accommodation.
