Yavn...Buddy, come on.

I still believe at least half of the reason for it is that we got so many more through that they thought would be possible. They want those items to be limited.

I think that's the entire reason. They've never shut down ANYTHING early due to code generators and the like before, so even if that were the case, why start now? I don't buy it. Shutting down the quest early to keep more people than they bargained for from winning is absolutely cheating, and in the worst possible sense of the word. The decision makers at VMK are the real cheaters here, and have no right whatsoever to lecture ANYONE on cheating. I've never seen anything so hypocritical in my life!

Isn't it ironic that the first thing that has excited me about VMK in about a month has now turned me so disappointed and disgusted with the VMK decision-makers that I find myself not wanting to even sign in?

For the record, I signed up last night (my wife has been on the board for a while but this is my first real post) and I waited because I am so 'pezzed' off
(Translation: I had to shampoo 4 times this morning to get the smell of Yavn's post-metabolized bacardi, chorizo and pineapple breakast smoothy from yesterday out of my hair).

So I counted to ten.
A hundred times.

And for the record - as the breadwinner for a family of seven, I spend literally thousands of dollars a year on DL annual passes, movies, concerts / stage productions and churros ;)

And I watched my wife and 9 year old son (forget me - I was the last on our team to clear task 16 and spent 25+ hours on line right next to them to get us all through) shafted by Yavn and his 'think-tank'.

Now I know I don't pay to play.
I also don't play to watch the Lakers or the Cowboys.
I don't pay to watch the SuperBowl either.

But I do know that someone is paying to sponsor Network TV - and VMK - It's called marketing.

The last thing I will be buying is a paid subscription to Pirates on line or Disney's ToonTown.

I already spent my extra change on Shampoo.

I agree with the wearing of Silver Ears. When my character finished the quest I put them on for a few just to show friends, but took them off because they didn't finish the quest and felt it was a slap in the face. A few friends, along with a ton of other VMK players would have been able to finish the quest if they had the rest of the day.
Whoever cheated should be banned and hopefully look in the mirror and see disrespect

I also feel like that, thanks VMK :sad2:

:welcome: to Dis. That is so heartbreaking. So sorry to here most of your family was shafted too. :(

Another step that you'll hate me for? I would like to see a system, where you can subscribe to VMK for a small monthly fee and keep the free vmk as well. Those who pay get access to a few more items, more quests, etc.

- hides -

I don't agree with the pay to play. I am a single mom with two children. We all like to play. Even a small fee for each player would have to be worked into my budget. I think they need to ban the people "they say" they know cheated. When these people keep getting banned for cheating maybe word will get around and maybe eventually stop. I agree they punished the wrong people by closing the quest early. Obviously the cheaters already won the quest and the non-cheaters were still trying to finish. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who that will affect...not the cheaters...:sad2:

Paying to play vmk could work, but it would also force a lot of players out, myself included. I don't see any cost worth the lag and crashing of vmk.

Monkey, I have to agree and disagree with you on this one...I think a monthly payment is too much, no matter how small. BUT I do think a pay-to-play would help get rid of lots of the mules and stop a lot from being created. Let's find a happy middle ground, how about a small (like under $20) yearly subscription?? And with that income from the pay-to-play, give us more serves so none of us are crashing like we were this weekend.

Plus, I think the pay-to-play would "nicen" up VMK a lot more...think about it, if you had the chance of being banned for being mean, cheating, etc. would you (as a kid) really go up to someone you don't know and say "You're ugly" or all the other mean and down right rude things I have had kids come up to me and say or seen them saying to others?? Plus, how are they going to explain it to their parents that they need another subscription cause they just got banned for being mean or scamming another player?? As a parent, would you give Bold or Forest another subscription if they got themselves banned? I think not.

Oh and about the cheating...seriously!! Yavn, you continually say you know who they are, yet the problem continues....Do something about it already!! Stop saying you know who they are and ban them already!!!

Whoever cheated should be banned and hopefully look in the mirror and see disrespect

I doubt those who cheated have any sliver of a conscience. They are the "hooray for me and too bad for everybody else" type. I think they deserve public humiliation with VMK posting their character titles right on the front page. I'm sure they are well known because of their wealth in the game.

As for the cowboy, I think he should wear the silver ears to his party. It's VMK, not him, that should feel bad. He won them fair and then was generous with his time helping others.

Regarding pay-to-play, we pay for most entertainment. The movies, cable or satellite TV, the internet, etc. I'm not suggesting a large fee to play VMK, say $5 a month. They could also do a family plan such as pay for three accounts and the fourth is free. Or pay for three months and the next is free. It would also generate some additional revenue to Disney and VMK's future might be more secure. And maybe even pay for the servers they so desperately need.

I won't get into the entire muling debate. But I do have an opinion on that as well. I don't believe it should be forbidden, but I think it should be limited.

Two more of my cents for the day. ;)

Excellently put, redshoe! :thumbsup2

TPTB at VMK cheated hundreds of kids and adults out of their chance to compete this difficult quest. And then Yavn comes along and throws out these vague allegations of "cheating" to cover up their own hypocritical incompetance and ineptitude.

Unfortunately, it looks like Yavn's spin control worked, because I have now seen kids in the game saying that the "bad people" ruined it for them. They uncritically accept whatever the Great & Powerful Yavn tells them, and don't see the little man manipulating the controls behind the curtain.

Well done, Yavn! You've managed to vilify those of us who legitimately completed the quest.
Good show, VMK! That's the way to honor the Disney name and values!

I feel the same way. I was excited at the prospect of this quest and I was still excited while doing the quest and helping others do the quest. I actually rolled my lazy butt out of bed and signed on at opening all four days of the quest. I hadn't done that in a few months prior to the quest.

Then, after the quest ended, seeing how many people were unable to finish, it completely changed my attitude and re-killed everything I was liking about the game. Add to that the newsletter and Yavn's lame excuses and I'm extremely disappointed. I'm actually beyond disappointed, but I don't think there's a word to describe it.

So I am not the only one that feels this way!? I am not even tempted, despite the fact my baby is napping right now, to log in and be on VMK. Simply don't want to be there.

We were not home this weekend and so we started the quest on Monday. One person in our family was able to complete it. I got to the mansion and DD made it to task #16. I am pretty darned disappointed and cannot imagine how much more so I would feel if I had spent all weekend doing the quest to end up treasureless. Or worse yet, was in JC when the quest was shut down.

I am happy so many ppl did make it through and am happy I was able to help many ppl through the pirates task. I suppose its wrong to wish it would have been me instead. ;) IMHO a few more hours of quest time would have been no sweat off VMKs now bloodied nose.

Let me see if I can get excited for a jesters hat I already have......nope. Nuthin'.

Wait for it....

Nope.

Oh well guess there is always more laundry to do.

I don't understand how people cheated - does Yavn mean using mules? Or was there some other way to cheat?

As for the people who are hiding their silver ears - don't! From someone who didn't finish the quest, it doesn't bother me one bit. I would wear them proudly. Not everyone can be a winner, right? :)

Not just kids in VMK. Look right here in this very thread. Among a couple other threads. Even some of the adults have taken him at his word.

I just don't realy believe it.
He's threatend and bullied people before about this. This time they even went so far as to say that using answer guides is cheating and those using them will be banned. Thereby, making sure that people have an even more difficult time completing the quest because DIS (and I'm sure other forums) took them down.
They didn't want anything to keep up from spending more time on our quests instead of helping others through #16.

I figured it out as soon as I seen that 575 number. They only wanted the fewest possible people finishing this quest. And they figured out that many more people would finish it after getting home on tuesday. So they figured a way to keep them from doing it. "Let's shut it down early and blame the cheaters".

How many other quests have they shut down early due to cheaters? How many outside code games did they shut down because of cheaters? None that I can remember.

Keep the items rare! What a brilliant move!!

Now the cheaters' prizes are even better.

(I am, btw, really pleased for those who worked hard, helped others and finished the quest - I met and appreciate several of you - and I am glad for you that your prizes will be limited)

I'm hoping Yavn can tell us who cheated.

I'd like to give them my gold ears too.

(still wet from the hosing)

Today I was attacked in Storybookland, wearing my silvery ears, trying to use my TDM, by some people (kids, adults, idk) saying I was probably one of the 'cheaters' who ruined the quest for them.

I immediately just clicked and went to another room.

First thought was 'take off the ears, hide the magic'...then I remembered the 63 ppl me and my team got through the pirates portion of the quest...I remembered all the people we helped with answers and advise on how to play mansion and cruise...I thought about how much fun we had together...

Yavn's comments hurt. He hurt the kids/adults who successfully completed the quest, the gave the ones who didn't finish the right to become 'victims', and he tarnished the image of the magic of Disney.

If VMK was to ever start charging players to play it, here would be my suggestion, for the accounts that were made before they started to charge people to play should either be free or they should give them a major discount on payments. Either way it would cut down on mules also.

When I was in DW in Sept. there was a man in vmk central opening new accounts, he had a paper with at least 20 new mules on them, he not only tied up the computer for ever but he said he does this a few times a week, now you would think that the people who work in there could put a stop to it! That is taking it to an EXTREME! I have a few extra accounts, one is for when I want to be on without being bothered by friends, and the other two are for my grandaughters, who really haven't been playing lately. I keep them up to date for them, so when they do want to play they have some points to keep them going.

LOL!! I have an "antisocial" account, too. It isn't because I don't want to talk to my friends...more because sometimes I need to earn some credits, and I know that if I start visiting, which I'd be likely to do on my main account, I'd never play a single mini-game!

Aww! Hugs!
By making it out that the entire population were victims of cheaters, he then made everyone who completed the quest honestly victims themselves.
Personally, I might have said something like:
They said cheaters would be banned, but I'm still here. ;)

They said cheaters would be banned, but I'm still here. ;)

Had I thought about it, I would have :D Now I have that in my brain should I ever get 'attacked' again.

About the Mule thing. I personally have 9 accounts, take care of 2 for my godson, 1 for a friend who can't be on right now, and 3 for another friend who has 'given up' VMK for now, who I just can't bear to let all that hard work go to waste.

As for my personal accounts, well, they are probably better off than most of the population of VMK. All have their quests, diving through green car, and most of them have a second star. Each carries about 10-20k, have their own pins and clothing. I like redundancy. Is that bad? No... I personally don't think so. Are they as 'rich' as my 2 main accounts? No. But any kid would be happy to have 1 of my mules for their very own.

Im sure these were the guys that were selling black ears on ebay. Nice way to make a living, huh?

Yesterday morning when I went to the pirate dock a group of girls said "we hate silver ear ppl, cheaters". The sad thing about this cheating thing, do you think its coming from the 8-14 yr old range NO WAY this is the big peeps that have to feel important with their virtual rare. Come on we all know who they are. Maybe even got them on your list. Even when vmk caught scammers red handed they slapped their wrist, patted their butts and let them back in the game. Nothing about this was fair, nothing whatsoever, but that was vmks plan, and thats why everyone else brainstormed and had their own plan. They now need to settle the score, make it right. Put all the rare in the stores and I mean ALL of it, flips and all. No more rich ppl, no more look at me Im XXXXX and ppl treat me like a God.

I appreciate the hurt you feel by the treatment of bitter players in the game.

But saying I have "the right to be a victim" because they shut the quest down on me when I could have finished sounds pretty unfair itself.

I am not playing the victim, nor asking for gifts from my friends who finished, nor begrudging them any of their great prizes. But I WAS hurt, perhaps more than you.

Don't paint with too broad a brush there.
