Yard Sale vs. Consignment Sale

I've found that consignment works better for us than a Yard Sale. It amazes me that someone will only pay $.50 for a kids shirt from Gap in great condition, yet someone else will pay $4.00 for the same shirt at a Consignment store. Making anywhere from 40%-50% (depending on the consignment store), I still come out ahead and don't have the headaches of dealing with people who want something for nothing.

We had our children's sale this past weekend. It was a big success, and I agree with previous posters...you get people looking for exactly what you are offering...I do a tag sale too, but it's SO frustrating to get the 20 people who come looking for 1 specific item! At a children's sale, everyone looking is coming for children's items. I also agree, you can sell at better prices. At a tag sale, I don't go over $1 on most children's items, but as an example, I sold a gorgeous Cinderella costume from the Disney store for $20 at the sale, and I sold a Thomas set of trains/tracks for $20. The money adds up MUCH quicker for me this way. Gymboree clothes are a hit all over...my used ones were easily selling at $4-6 a piece. Glad to hear other's sales are going well too.

Hi,
Thanks for all the information guys. It is really very helpful. I am planning a sale for all my child's outdoor toys as we are moving to a new place. So what would be the best way for me to sell them off, please pop in your valuable suggestions guys.
:)
