Hi,
After reading some threads about having yard sales to save money for our next trip to WDW we decided to do it....Also i have never had one and i'm a pack rat, so i guess i really need to get rid of some stuff....Every year the first of July our town has a town wide yard sale, you have your yard sale put on a map at the town hall and the town puts the flyers out to the business around town.....So i decided maybe that would be the best time to have one....
My son was cleaning out his closet and WOW he had several toys that he did not open that have been in there since last year or maybe two years...The thing is that he is twelve and when it comes to holidays family memebers still thinks he plays with toys even though i have tried nicely to tell them that he doesn't....He wants to sell them so he could start his own saving for this trip....
Here's my problem he wants to know what to sell them for well they are new the boxes are not open so i don't know...
Here are some of things he has found so far...

Bugs Life- Bug Creator-A molding oven
{the only thing wrong with the box is that when the wrapping paper was torn off it torn off some of the picture on the box}

Transforming Blok Bots made by Mega Bloks

WWF handheld electronic game

Steel Tec-it's a steel construction system, you make cars, machinery....It's for older children....Like a moldel

Lincoln Logs- but it's walmart brand

How do you price your childrens clothing my sons are ages 12 and 5 so i have assorted sizes but they are all good if not i would throw them out.....Alot of them are names clothing osh kosh, tommy, quicksilver, hurley and so on...

One more question i know we all probbly all have like a million of lego's....My youngest still plays with the lego's but the large ones i think they are mega block what do you do with them????
Any advice

I sold Mega Blocks at my last garage sale, they were still in the plastic case they came in. Price the name brand clothes a little higher and be prepared to take less, they will ask. I sold a lot of new toys at mine and they didn't bring as much as I thought. People want super bargains.

It probably varies on where you are, but around here, no one wants to pay alot for toys at a yeard sale, even if they are new in the box. I'd try to decide what was a fair price, and mark on there that it's brand new, never been opened, etc. If you notice someone really looking at it, go over and talk to them, explain that it's new, be prepared, they will probably ask you to lower the price.

As far as the clothes, I'm not sure about the 12-yo. I priced most of my clothes (kids and adult) at what I thought I'd be willing to pay for them if I was looking. The second day of our yard sale, I marked everything down that I had left by 25 or 50 cents. I priced jeans for me (small size adult) at $3 a pair, lowered to $2 the second day. DH had some shirts that he put in for $1 each (could have KILLED him, they were new shirts I just bought him for Christmas with the tags still on them).

As far as the legos, are they the Mega blocks ones that have a large plastic container? I'd probably put the container out there and ask $2 or $3 for it. If they don't have a container and you have lots of them, put them in large (freezer size maybe) ziploc bags and put them in a box with a sign for 50 cents a bag or something.

The WWF game, maybe put $12 and be prepared to come to $10? The same with the other toys, just whatever you think. You won't get full store price out of them though. My kids are little, so I don't know much about those kinds of toys (YET!!, lol)

Hope this helps some, good luck!

Steph

I got that Bugs Life oven at a yard sale, new in box for $3 last year. I'm not sure it's even worth that much after using it. The bugs take forever to cook, you can only do one at a time and they are fairly sticky after. I only bought it since DS is a HUGE Bugs Life fan!
