Yanks wanting to visit London

I thought I could ask for some help on this board. My family (DH, DD-11, DD-6, DS-3, & me!) is planning to visit London in the summer of 2008.

I would like some recommendations for clean and moderately priced family accomodations in London. Is there a better time to visit if we're limited to the time between June 20-August 15? Would like to stay at least 1 week.

Any other helpful recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I can't really help with the accomodation except to say that when we go to London we usually look at the deals on expedia and then check reviews on the hotels using trip advisor. As for the time to visit, I would probably say June or the beginning of July. Schools over here tend to break up for the summer the last week of July.

Sorry I can't really help with the accommodation either.

I would recommend June for visiting. July and August are school holiday times for here in the UK and on top of that it is also a busy time for visitors from elsewhere so London can become very busy. Also, if (and it can be a big IF!) we have a good summer London gets very hot and sticky, yuck! most of our transport systems are not air conditioned so makes for very unpleasant travelling.

I'll try expedia. I never thought of it for international travel. Duh.

Well, Expedia wasn't so expedient. When I entered our information for 2 adults/3 kids the suggested hotels listed all reported that we either exceed the number of adults or children allowed!

Can you only travel in groups of 3?

which might be your only choice. This is hotel is actually quite central.

Thanks! I just discovered some flat rentals, too. That may be the way to go.
