The 19 yo son of the original owner(Michael Kittredge)is now setting up his OWN candle company in my little town here in Western Mass. Daddy is footing the bill for lots of property and one of the buildings is being made into a mini Yankee Candle store(like the flagship store)with plans for things like restaurants, Christmas shop and other retail. The new company is making only white candles in different scents and apparently already is taking wholesale orders. I saw the truck getting loaded today on my way home from work. This place is only right around the corner from where I live so I'm not too sure if I'm liking this whole "project", but I am appreciative of new jobs in our area.

***Grand Opening this Saturday, Oct. 16th! The place is gorgeous inside and out - got a sneak peek last weekend.***

I have spent the last half hour Goggling Yankee Candle :rotfl: I now know more about that company than ever. Got questions? I can help ya :lmao:

Weird thing though, this is coming just as Yankee Candle is laying off people at its factory. :confused3 They are using a new technology, which should be good for you, the vats are closed so you won't have to smell the fragrances.

Thanks for sharing the info.

Yea, the fragrance issue was an initial concern of mine, but we've been assured they'll be using the most up-to-date technology in ventilation. Now I am just worrying about the increase in traffic in my quiet little town. We don't even have a stoplight(at this point).

As a Bernardston resident myself i could not be happier to see a new business like this. I drive by this location a lot, and i have been so pleased to see all the Remodeling. the landscape looks great!
As for the Traffic, we JUST got that road re-paved and wider, i don't think that will be a Problem.
Maybe some of the Traffic will stop at Marshals?? (now:corner something), The old Streeters?? (Now: Cafe, and Liquor store) what about the new Brewery we have?!! How Cool..!
As for this Restaurant i hear about... Does anybody remember Falls River Inn??! It was so sad to see that Business Burn down... We need a good restaurant like that back....!
Oh, The Smell.... I hear that we wont be able to smell the fragrance..(Big Filter)... Truthfully, I wouldn't mind if they left a window open... Cows and Fields are NOT a Pleasant Smell...!

Socialelite - Welcome to the DIS! It's nice knowing there's another Disney fanatic here in our little town. I agree, Kringle Candle looks amazing. I'm so glad it is the Kittredge family doing this. Even though I live right around the corner from the business, I really do hope it takes off(and maybe they'll come offer me lots of $$$ for MY house like they did for their neighbors!).

P.S. The only time my DH(that's darling hubby in DIS terms)and I can smell the faintest whiff of candles is when we're walking right in front of Aldo's.

People still actually burn candles? We had a rash of fatal house fires last winter started by candles, or do you guys just collect them?

I was actually just Googling Kringle Candle, Seeing what was going on in my local town.
They look like its a matter of weeks now...!
: )

I burn a Yankee Candle every day; can't wait to see what the new white ones are all about! :thumbsup2

I'll be SO happy to shop for candles in a slightly less gi-normous atmosphere than what YC has become. We live just a little ways away and it's a zoo the most of the time. Can't wait to check out KC's!

and why shouldn't Kittredge go in with his DS on a candle co? It's what they know and it worked pretty good the first time ;)

Hi, all.

This is my kind of thread. I love Disney and I also work at Yankee Candle. In fact, that's why I went to work there. It's the closest I can get to working at DisneyWorld without having to live in Florida. :woohoo:

Just returned from WDW last night.

As I sit here listening to the rain it's hard to believe that this time yesterday I was sitting on a Treehouse deck in the sunshine.

Re: YC...

I believe the link on Google re: YC laying off workers is an old one. We are currently hiring as we are heading into our busiest season.

I saw the new Kringle Candles a few months ago - they are lovely.

BTW, do any of you have a favorite Yankee Candle fragrance?

I'm happy they brought back Holiday Sage this season. I've been hoarding my last jar.

I could not be more thrilled for the Kittredge family. I worked for Yankee for about seven years and it was a wonderful company. I worked for them when Mr Kittredge still owned the company and it was small. Although it was nice to see the amazing amount of growth in the company, the quality has suffered a bit. I can see and smell the differences. Still love 'em tho and still the best thing on the market - well, until maybe now. I'm very excited to get my hands on some of Kringle's products and test them out! I wish them every success! I know the product will be top notch - no question there.

Dacia - all time favorite fragrance is Eucalyptus which is now back in the current lineup - nice to see it readily available again.

tvguy - have been burning Yankee candles for over 15 years now almost everyday - people will list the source for a fire as a candle but usually the real reason is human error in caring for and burning the candle correctly

I burn YC everyday....I use mostly tarts which are safer but I do burn the reg ones...the good thing about YC is you only have to burn it for a few minutes so no need to forget its burning...

Went up to Kringle Candle today. They were having their Grand Opening.

I bought an assortment of 21 tealights for $20...a good way to check out lots of the fragrances.

One of my friends who works up there was telling me about how this first batch of candles doesn't have the oz info or the burn time, but the next batch will. Sounds like a good collectible first edition opportunity for those of you so inclined.

Note to Livie re: burning regular YC jars (assuming you were talking about Housewarmer jars)for just a few minutes...

Unless you burn them long enough that the whole surface is liquid, they will tunnel and you won't get your maximum burn time. Also, candles that are allowed to tunnel will develop longer exposed wicks and will emit soot.

Dunno if any of you have had a chance to try last years Be Thankful which is still available. Great fragrance.

I use the plug in candle warmers since I have the worldest dumbest cat (set his face fur on fire 4 times sniffing candles)
