I need opinions on this place (and pics too!) :worship: We tend to eat a lot of asian food b/c DH is asian and going a whole week without asian food would not make him too happy! We MAY go to Tepan Edo in Epcot but not sure we'll have time to squeeze that in. So we will have time while in AK and am wondering how the food is there. And is it any better at lunch vs dinner or is it all the same no matter when you go?

ALSO - is the counter service the exact same food or not as fresh/not as good of a quality as the sit down restaurant? Obviously if it's allthe same, we'd probably just do counter service!

THANKS!!!

I didn't think the counter service was the same quality.

We happen to like Yak & Yeti, but everyone has a different definition of good asian food. Their best food is not copied chinese, like the beef w/ broccoli, but their entrees like the steak & shrimp or the fish (not that the fish was great, but it was nicely sauced).

My dd12 loves asian flavored foods. She likes the CS at Y&Y, but I didn't. (I thought the Honey Chicken was the normal Disney chicken nuggets with sauce on them, but she likes fast food nuggets with sweet/sour sauces.) She loves Y&Y, 9 Dragons and Tokyo Dining. She thought Teppan Edo was too bland.

We think the food is very good, and have enjoyed it on several occasions.

I heard the counter service food is HORRIBLE. So please try to go to the sit down instead. We ate there when it had first opened and will be eating there again in September. The fried green beans were amazing! Most of the food is typical chinese food you would find anywhere else, maybe with a slight twist. We enjoyed it.

I wouldn't say Yak & Yeti is an asian restaurant. It has some asian influences, but it's owned by the Rain Forest Cafe :rotfl:

If you really want an authentic asian restaurant, then I'd dine in Epcot. You can't go wrong with Teppan Edo or Nine Dragons.

We had lunch there last year and we were very pleased. I had the 'pho' and it was fantastic.

We ate at Yak & Yeti for the first time last Sept. The food was very good, and we plan on eating there again. Love the fried wonton desert. The only thing we had at the counter service were the egg rolls and they were good. Also if you are on the dining plan the egg rolls were a snack credit.

Does anyone know if they use MSG in their food? I love the kinds of dishes they have on their menu and really want to go there on our trip, but I cannot have MSG...

Thanks.

Ate in once, and it's much better than counter, IMO (mushy noodles, yuck). With that said, it's not great Chinese or Asian, but no one can do great anything on such a large scale as what Disney has to put out. It was good, not great and I will do it again in June.

We ate there last summer and loved the ribs and the steak and shrimp but the appies were ick and the desserts were blech

It is not Asian food to me. My Mother was born in China but we are not Chinese. Asian food to me is the dim sum stuff, etc... Totally different food at Yak and Yeti. It is good but definitely Americanized. I really enjoyed the food there. I did a review back in November.

The review is on the 1st page post #13. I'd definitely eat there again. We did not eat at the counter service so, I can't compare.

Of all the meals we ate last Sept...this was the biggest dissapointment. The food was terrible and the service was brutal. It is truly the only place in all of WDW that we will never return to. :sad2:

We ate there in Jan and enjoyed it, but our meal was very expensive for what we got. Tokyo Dining in Epcot is much better. Excellent food. It's in the same building as Tempan Edo.

definitely not the same as your average chinese take out place, but not extremely americanized either. We loved the place back in august (table service). The food was very tasty and the service was good. Try the fried wonton dessert - it's amazing! :cloud9:

While we enjoyed eating there last September and would go back, it's not particularly great Asian cuisine, and I did find it to be rather americanized as Asian food goes. I didn't take any pictures, nor can I remember what we had other than the appetizer (the Dim Sum). The Dim Sum was just ok, but then we are rather spoiled by the Dim Sum we can get here in Portland. The entrees were tasty but not traditional Asian. I remember also getting a type of cheesecake for dessert that was really good.

The atmosphere and decor of the place was great.

The Steak and Shrimp entree, and mussels appetizer were delicious. Forgot what DH had, but he liked it. The only negatives were the amount of time we had to wit for our table for lunch, the chaos in the lobby, and the service was very slow. Could be because it had recently opened when we went. We're definetly willing to give this another try, but not if we are in any sort of rush....

I enjoyed the Table Service. Here is what we got

We got our desserts to go since we were running late for a meet. So these aren't the best representations of them. I asked for just the brownies of my dessert, but they threw in the ice cream too. Luckily I discovered this quickly! There are other items missing from this dessert that I didn't think would be good to go.
