Yak & Yeti

I would be very surprised if Disney does not handle the ADR's for a TS restaurant inside the park. RFC does not depend on the AK schedule but Y&Y would. I can't imagine people calling guest services and then given a phone number to call elsewhere.

The moderators of the Restaurant Board have discussed this option and decided that at this time, Yak & Yeti does not warrant a sticky. We haven't seen the board be overrun by threads on that same topic, and since we try to keep the stickies to a minimum we don't feel it is worth it right now.

But there IS a "Restaurants News & Updates" sticky! :yay:

I read today that the opening date for Yak & Yeti is November 14th. I don't know if this is official, whether it is a soft opening or a hard opening, etc. Even if it is true, restaurants often delay their openings, so I wouldn't put too much stock in it anyway.

All we know about Y&Y is what we do NOT know . . .
. . . we don't know for sure the opening date
. . . we don't know for sure the menu items
. . . we don't know for sure the ability to make ADR's for the TS section
. . . we don't know for sure the status of DDP use

For sure, we don't know.

:rotfl:

I've been making reservations for the AK RFC for years through Disney Dining. Lunch there on our AK day has become a tradition. If anyone gets a CM who says it is not possible I would politely ask them to try. The CM probably just has the two RFC confused.

This is just my opinion.

I have never had a pleasantly memorable meal (Unpleasantly memorable? Yes indeed.) in any Rainforest Cafe anywhere in the country, so I don't even try anymore. Nobody in my family is crazy about RCs either, so I doubt we will ever eat at the Yak & Yeti. We have the Disney Dining Experience Card, so we used to get a discount at the Tusker House (yummmmmmm...).

All the dining changes at AK actually make me rather sad (anybody remember the AK Meal Deal?), the salmon or half-chicken dinner plus getting the 20& discount on all our food and beverages (including beer!)...priceless.

agnes!

I am just back from WDW last night. The whole Y&Y area is still under major construction including scaffolding around the area.

My guess is that they will not make any ADR's because they do not want to go through the whole Teppan Edo mess with another place.

There is a restaurant news thread at the top of the board where we post news regarding restaurants as we hear it.:thumbsup2

Agree. What I saw at the end of August didn't give me a warm fuzzy feeling about a mid-November open date. Maybe the interior is a lot further along than the exterior? You'd expect this restaurant to be mobbed from the get go, given the slim food options in AK and a potential opening so close to the crowded holiday season. Think doing a "soft opening" to bring staff up to speed could be difficult so taking the time to train a full staff (wait and cook) will be crucial to initial success IMO...

. . . I hope they serve rack of Yak as an entree, and apple brown Yeti for dessert . . .

1) I am not too sure about this.
2) Everyone knows that Yak Rack is tough and chewy.
3) Yak is better stewed in a good Burgundy or Cabernet.

About ADR's at both RFC's.

Animal Kingdom - They are made directly through Disney Dining.

Downtown Disney - They can indeed be made by calling the restaurant directly. I've done it a few times now and have reservations for December on 2 seperate nights.

I don't know much about the Yak & Yeti restaurant... is it connected with the RFC somehow?

I tried to make an ADR this morning for it for mid-March 2008 and I coudn't book either Y&Y OR Tusker House at this point. If Y&Y is run by RFC then for sure I'll book Tusker House when ADRS are finally taken. I really hate RFC restaurants.
