Say that name real fast and see what you get...
Yakn' Yeti
Might as well call it Pukin' Panda.

Sorry, just thought I would put that out there. Has anyone else thought of this?

It wont stop me from eating there. Just as soon as they will let us make a reservation, we will be on the list for December.

Just hope there's not a large Yeti statue inside upchucking his last meal!

:confused3 Funny! I've never heard of this restaurant, where is it?

It will be in Animal Kingdom if the EVER START TAKING ADR's AND OPEN IT!! I called again tonight, and the CM told me they don't have a definite open date so they are not taking ressies. :confused3

I find Yak N Yeti an odd name for a restaurant, too--regardless of it's established name. I think it brings all sorts of unpleasantness to mind:confused3

probably up to closing time.

remember tusker house will also be a TS location

Do they have menus posted for this anywhere? I had not selected any resteraunts in AK for any of our ADRs...partly because I expect to spend the least amount of time in this park (compared to the others, MK, EPCOT and MGM).

No menus yet. I've only seen the cuisine described as pan-Asian or Asian fusion. There's apparently going to be both a CS and TS restaurant in the building.

Oh, and I never thought of yak meaning anything but the animal. :confused3

I think it goes with the theme. I actually don't think it's that odd. Yak and Yeti make me think of Himalayas and Mount Everest, so since they have EE right near by, it really fits.

I guess it must be a southern thing to think of Yak as something other than an animal. After posting this thread I did a search to see if anyone else had similar veiws... and some do.

We think it would have been better to call it Yeti & Yak.

I understand the thought of the name, it just sounds funny.

Yak & Yeti has been a premiere hotel in Nepal for decades

http://www.yakandyeti.com

if you google it, you'll find additional restaurants with that name as well

That doesn't suprise me. Yak in the non-animal since is slang here in the states.
I know folks from around the world visit WDW, but there will be a lot of people from around here who will make fun of the resturant. Maybe that was their idea... great marketing tool.

NYC is part of the states too :) although I grew up in New England.

I know what your point is with yak. although I have to add that I have never heard it used in that sense on a regular basis and the thought never crossed my mind until i started seeing threads like these pop up.

it's possible that landry's didn't realize there was an innuendo with the name, or maybe they did and thought it was funnier that way. but they definitely didn't make up the name.

There's a little town not far from us called Kemah. Landry's bought up a bunch of property to build a board walk on the bay. There are lots of resturants and shops all Landry owned... kinda cool.

Off the subject...
Great Star Wars Weekend pics! We have always wanted to go during that time and finally made reservations for next year. Hopefully the dates will stay the same.
How was your experiance over all (Star Wars, crowds, weather, etc...)?

I'll admit that I never thought of the non-animal connotation of "Yak", but even just thinking of an actual yak and the Yeti, the place doesn't bring up the image of "good food" to me. A big, smelly cow-ox animal and the Abominable Snowman?? Definitely not Good Eats- I get the Nepal and Asian connection, but ICK!

thanks.. i'm actually really not a star wars fan and i had fun. my original intent was to go for the end of the flower & garden festival and when i remembered that it was the first SWW, i extended my stay (i literally arranged for the trip 3 days prior). it was hot and the first day of SWW, it rained quite a bit and managed to jumble some things up and cause some shows to be canceled.

Well, I got a chuckle out of it... The name does capture Mount Everest for ME- but now I'll also picture a yeti with a tummy ache!
