I'm on the Disney Dining Plan and booked both for one night. I need to decide which one to stay with and which one to cancel. We will be at Animal Kingdom during the day so Y&Y will be easy to get to but I heard good things about Whispering Canyon as well and I thought it would be neat for us to visit the resort at the same time.

Which one is better for food/service?

Is there one that we simply should not miss?

Thanks in advance!

I voted for Yak and Yeti. I think the food there is great! I mean really great!

Whispering Canyon - the food no where near as good, but there are some fun corny antics that kids (or really goofy adults) will enjoy. Wilderness Lodge is worth a visit. Maybe best while at Magic Kingdom because you can take a boat from MK easily to WL and back.

I have reviews of both on the link below.

We love the food at WCC, it is one of our favorites. A must do for every trip. :)

I must admit I have never eaten at y&y, but WCC is pretty good and makes me laugh everyt time we go. I think it will be a pain for you to leave AK in middle of day to get to it. It would be better if you had breakfast there or go another day. hope that helps!

Out of all the places I've eaten at WDW, these are the 2 least favorite. Since I really hate WCC, I'd choose Y&Y.

they are both OK, neither is a cant miss. I went with the Yak and Yeti as its offerings are bit more exotic

We LOVED Yak & Yeti and haven't been able to find a full day at AK since our first visit to the restaurant to go back.

You could NOT pay us to eat at Whispering Canyon Cafe again. Horrible service and even worse food (hubby got sick on the food in the skillet).

Thanks for all your honest responses! It looks like Yak & Yeti is winning on the vote, but I must admit, I am still not sure which one to go with.

Good food is important but I hear Whispering Canyon can be quite entertaining, which is great for the kids.

Taking a boat from MK is a great tip. The thing is our itinerary has us at AK during the day and our WCC reservation is for 7:30 after the park closes - plus we are renting a car so that won't be an issue. The other thing is that we could probably go to Y&Y for our counter service lunch. But my son loves dinosaurs so we were sort of set on going to Restaurantasaurus for lunch...

Hmmm......what's so great about Yak & Yeti? Besides the food, does it have a good atmosphere?

Thank you! I think you have swayed me for Yak & Yeti!

I mostly just love the food at Yak and Yeti. The service was great. We went for lunch in 2009 and 2010. Both a later lunch on a day when we had the 8am character breakfast at Tusker House (when park opens at 9am). I find the decor is relaxing, like being in an old house. There's some interesting disney trivia about it. I also love getting my cold safari amber ale there. But we spend a full day at AK and go back another half day... so I'm not rushed to get to all the attractions.

At Yak and Yeti, the table service food is supposed to be much better than the counter service option.

I did cancel our signature dinner at Artist Point so my DS could go to Whispering Canyon Cafe. DS5 did have fun there which was great, so the sacrifice I made for him was OK! I remember the skillet being a LOT better when we were there in 2008 for dinner, than this most recent trip. If I go again, I'll order something else. But I really want Artist Point!

We are BIG Y&Y fans. Try ti book from 3-4 pm and see if you canget a window seat, you can watch the Jammin Jungle parade!

We've always enjoyed Yak & Yeti and try to stop in at least once a trip-good food and good service. We used to like Whispering Canyon, but the last few times the food has not been so good and the antics depends on the waiter/waitress you get. The last two times we got ones that were definitely not into it, plus the last time my husband spent the night hugging the porcelain throne and still felt off most of the next day so he says never again.:rotfl::sick:

LOVE Yak & Yeti, and eat there several times a year.

Tried WCC once and never again.

I have been to both within the past year and although we liked the food at both Y&Y was much better, DH and I practically inhaled the wonton dessert!
