Hi everyone, I was hoping you could help me out with some indecision I'm having :) . We currently have ADRs at Boma on our AK day. I was looking at the Yak and Yeti menu and it looks pretty good as well, plus it wouldn't require any travel to AKL since we would already be in the park. Which do you think we'd be better of with - IF I can still get an ADR for Yak. Our trip is 4/30-5/7. We're a family of four - me, DH, DS5 and DS6 and we all love Asian food.

I guess it depends on what the deciding factor is for your family.
The food is much better at Boma but you have to go to AKL. You can stay at DAK but the food is not as good. (I voted Boma)

i just got back from AKL last night. We did try Boma, while the atmosphere and service at Boma were great... the food just was not for us. I went into it really wanting to like it but it was a little too adventurous for my and my boyfriend's palettes. On the other hand we tried yak and yeti for lunch one day and were definitely pleasantly suprised. Service was great, atmosphere was nice, and the food was DELISH! I had the beef and broccoli and he had sweet and sour chicken, both very good!

I love Boma, but I've read some very good things about Yak and Yeti since it has opened. I haven't gotten a chance to try it yet, though I am planning on eating there during my next trip.

Plus, if you love Asian food, that's what Yak & Yeti is.

I personally did not like Boma when we went. As the above poster said, the food was a bit too adventureous and weird for my taste buds.

If you don't want to spend precious time on commuting, then I suggest stay inside the park and eat at Yak & Yeti. I haven't tried there yet, but planning to do so in my next visit.

:cheer2: Have fun!

Wow, the poll results are really close. I think I will switch to Y&Y after all. We are not very picky eaters, but we are picky in terms of convenience and you can't beat the convenience of being in the same park as your ADR.

never been to Y&Y, but have eaten at boma a number of times.
the food has gotten more "americanized" over the years (that can be good or bad, depending upon your tastes ;) ), but it is a restaurant that everyone should try at least one, IMHO.
extensive buffet, in a stunning resort (make sure to set aside some time for "touring" AKL ~ it's easy to see the many reasons it's so popular once you're there :cloud9: ).

From looking at the menu Yak and Yeti seems like a typical restaurant for that type of food. Boma is more like an experience and in my humble opinion has the friendliest and nicest most accomodating servers and cook staff. The variety is excellent and the quality is terrific. My very picky DS 5 didn't want the mac&cheese or chicken fingers that were offered and our server saw him pouting and said "What's wrong little man" and DS said I don't like anything, so the server asked him what he wanted and DS replied "plain pasta with butter and cheese" the server said count to 50 and when I come back I'll have a surprise for you! Sure enough 5 minutes later the server comes back with a bowl of plain pasta with butter and cheese and a slice of bread for him with stickers!:thumbsup2 Can't beat that!:goodvibes

IMO Boma is overhyped. It is good not great. Y&Y is new but looks really good plus you won't have to leave the park if you are doing lunch. I have not been to Y&Y but will be there very soon.

Grrr...the poll results are both 13 and 13. I'm wondering if I make my Y&Y ressie for 5:30ish and the park closes at 6:00pm, how will we get back to POFQ?

the parks will have buses running back to the resorts for at LEAST an hour after park closing. No worries :)
