Bonine and having a toddy...or 2...or 3?
:drinking1 :drinking1 :drinking1
And this is prescription Stuff?.

Well I can't speak to the 3, especially if they are in close succession, but I took 2 bonine every morning when I woke up and had a bevvie or two every day - definitely always one with dinner - with no ill effects.

I knew going in that I would need something - can't sit in the back seat of a car, have to face forwards on a moving train, can't sit sideways on a city bus (only forwards), swings, twirly / Tilt a Whirl rides - even scrolling too quickly through threads on the DIS - they all make me queasy! With my 2 bonines in the morning, I was fine for the entire cruise!

:thumbsup2 Bonine

We were on a Magic cruise this past December that had more ups and downs than BTMRR. It was crazy. People were getting sick left and right and dinner on the second night was half empty. It was so bad, they cancelled the show one night and play Enchanted on the big screen instead. The theatre was going up and down. I seriously felt like I was on a rollercoaster. We were all sitting and enjoying the movie when DD5 said, "Mommy, I don't feel so well." I thought she ate too many Skittles and told her to stop eating her candy and rest her belly. Not even a minute later, you know what happened. I took her back to our stateroom and gave her a Bonine with lots of water and made her lay down. She slept through the evening with no other incidents of vomiting. She woke up the next morning a little grumpy. So, she was back to normal. Next time, I would recommend everyone taking the Bonine BEFORE we felt seasick. But in a pinch, it worked too.

FYI - Our children's Pediatrician approved the use of Bonine and Dramamine for their seasickness. There is also a Children's Bonine. But, the regular is actually fine to give to a child too. For insurance reasons, they have to put the "consult your physican" disclaimer. I DO consult our Pediatrician before giving the children any OTC medicines. There are some they prefer over others and they can give you the correct dosage amount for the child's age/weight.

Haven't read the other responses yet but I did take Bonine starting the evening before our cruise as a percaution and it worked out fine. If you're going to take something make sure you do a trial run well beforehand to make sure it doesn't make you drowsy or that you have no reactions. Bonine was fine for me.

Ah okay I found the kids stuff. Humm the reviews say it tastes vile. Oh well the little one will just have to deal with it.

I guess I am the lucky one. I have never had motion sickness once in my life. But I did pick up a box of the adult strength stuff for my wife just in case.

My 10 yr old never complained about the bonine, and I believe he chewed it.. so it wasn't a problem.

I took 1 bonine every single night before bed and started the day before the cruise.... I had wine every night at dinner.. and it was all good.

We have those bio-band things that just slip on your wrist. I haven't ever needed them (yet ;) ) on any of our cruises but DH has used them a time or 2 and said they worked great. Our son did all the research before our first cruise and got these for us. We liked not having to take anything that might interfere with our drinks. :rotfl:

If I recall we got them from the Magellan's Travel catalog.

Has anyone else used these? Did they work well? Do they work for kids or are the bands too big? There isn't much information about them on the Magellan's web site.

OK, found more info on the BioBands web site. There are children's sizes available.

I'm still interested in hearing anyone else's experience using these. :goodvibes

I took 2 ginger pills (gotten in the vitamins section) every day for a week before our cruise. Then I took one a day on the cruise and never had any problems. The only little bit of sickness that I had was at Palo Brunch and that's because we had stopped by the Character Breakfast right before to visit with our new friends and I think I overate? :confused3 But the ginger really did work like a charm. In fact the rocking put me to sleep at night! :goodvibes

Are the ginger pills something you swallow like a capsule or are they chewable?

I'd love to hear more about sea bands. I've had a horrible time with Gravol. It knocks me out and that's not how I want to spend my trip. Also, I'm nervous about mixing some of this stuff with booze - and there will likely be booze.
