Yak and Yeti

In January my family of four, my nanny and my cousins family of four all went down to WDW Between Jan 11-17. We spent a Saturday at Animal Kingdom. Having ate at all the other restaurants in AK before Yak and Yeti was left on the list. We made a late lunch reservation for 145pm as we entered the park around 1030. This obviously was our first experience at the Yak and Yeti and were really looking forward to it.

What we ordered: My wife (a fan of Indian Food) ordered the Tikka Malsala. Which she really enjoyed all though may have been a little too spicy for her, her small frame nearly ate the whole plate.
My kids split a plate of Kids Mac and Cheese.
My Nanny had a sweet and sour chicken dish that she also agreed was really good.
I had a chefs special that day of Fried Chicken over a Belgian Waffle with Maple syrup and Korean Kim Chi Slaw. It was definitely a unique dish especially at an "Asian" restaurant.
We really enjoyed the food, it was definitely a nice meal and we enjoyed the decorations.

We were on the dining plan and did agree it was a pretty fair selection of dishes at ranging prices to choose from if you weren't on the dining plan.
Our negative moments. Found out quickly and almost noticeably that its not Disney Run. Landrys run it. The same company that run T-Rex and Rainforest Cafe. The food was excellent the atmosphere was great, but you can just tell its not Disney.
The Bathrooms were the worst ive seen while down in WDW. Dirty toilet and sink and a broken Mirror.
The whole meal took 2 hrs and 15 mins. We waited 25 mins for the table and then around a half hour after we sat down to get our meal. Just took too long if you ask me.

Recap:
The food was excellent, would definitely eat there again.
Possibly better suited for small parties.
Great bar for adult drinks.
Just not Disney, easily discernible.

Has anyone had an experience similar? Better?

I think years ago when the first opened the food was better. Lately they try to make the presentation nicer, years ago it was a plate of Asian food that filled the plate which is what it should be. Do not get me wrong the food is still good but did decline from the first few years... With that said the lower end of the menu is far better than the upper end of the menu those going there to maximize the DP will likely not walk away happy.... I have had the Sweat and sour chicken and that has always been good and for that fact anything with chicken has always been good.. shrimp not so much.. As far as not being Disney, I have never had an issue with service being clean or not however I have not used the bathroom there in over 2 years so I do not remember. My problem is with food although we do eat there almost every trip.

Our family did not eat there in the early years, so we can't compare how good it was then, but it has become a family favorite in the last 2 years and we now eat there on every trip. I do not remember the bathrooms being dirty. As to waiting for a table, we have waited long past our reservation time in many Disney restaurants, so I do not think twice when we have to wait for a table at WDW.

I ate at cs of yak and yeti and came away impressed. Food tasted great and I give a b plus.

It is a chain, but I find it to be quite good, and an appropriate amount of food. I have never used their bathroom but that does sound disgusting.

The QS Yak & Yeti, however, is terrible, and that one is owned by Disney. Go figure.

"Sweat and sour chicken" is a little too adventurous for me.

We LOVE Y&Y & eat there on every trip (2-4 times/year). Tip for any who aren't aware - sign up with the Landry's select club - $25 to join, but that is then immediately available to use the next time you visits a Landry's location & in addition, they give you a $25 birthday credit to use the month of your birthday! The other benefit is you have priority seating, which can come in handy! on my most recent trip, my adult daughter and I arrived to Y&Y without a ressie at about noon. Walked up to the podium to ask about a seat without ressie & the hostess was like "ooh, I'm not sure if we can fit you in" and started to lean over to ask the lead hostess. Before she could ask I mentioned that I am a Landrys select member and she said "oh, then no problem" we were seating in like 5 minutes! Typically, the manager will also make a stop at our table to check in on everything and thank us for being members. Definitely worth signing up IMO!

We were there again this past fall and our food was fabulous. We like Landry's restaurants and it wasn't until we were there that we knew it. We always go dining plan and I always have too much food. It is a must do. We have never had the issues with waiting either. We have had lunch and dinner. We sat upstairs the last time, looked out over the park as the lights came on, it was wonderful. Though, and I am never cold, it was cool up there which was nice on a hot day.

I am 99.9% sure it can be used for anything you order, including adult beverages I have actually gotten one for all in my traveling party since the months we typically travel are months that at least one of us has a birthday. So worth it! Note however that we are never using a DDP (too much food!) so not sure how that would work.
