OMG the menu sounds delicious! I have never even heard of this place, but it my kind of cuisine, I think I am going to *love* it. Is their a dish they are known for, I cannot even narrow it down, any suggestions?

I loved it there, everything about it was good, food, service, from the time I sat down till I left, I am going back again in December, it is a must do for my trip again. Enjoy

We've had relatively disappointing dining experiences at Yak & Yeti, despite how excited we were about the prospect of a restaurant just like that opening at the park. Our disappointments were partially with regard to the lack of food choices for vegetarians, but a couple of the meat-eaters traveling with us were also disappointed, them with the food quality.

I hope your experience there is better.

It was one of our favorites from our first trip and we are definitely heading back there this trip. Everything was delicious!

I agree with you for vegaterians it isn't the best. My whole point as you have to remember this is park food, not a 5 star resturant so with that mind thought it was very good I thought. To eaches own, the best way to find out about it is try it out, what do you have to lose. :thumbsup2

True, though I think a lot of folks are asking the question in terms of "this-or-that" - in the case of Animal Kingdom, "Yak & Yeti or Tusker House". In that context, I'd choose Tusker House. Everyone in our party was able to find lots of things they liked, and the food quality was viewed as better than the price paid (while the opposite was the case for Yak & Yeti).

We thought Yak and Yeti was the biggest disappointment food wise of our week at Disney. There was a large quantity of food, but it was mostly tasteless. Tusker House was much better - but then again, we had to pay OOP for that as we were on the QS plan. When we go back, I think we will try the BBQ place as it smelled very good.

We had lunch there and LOVED it! I had the Kobe Burger with asian slaw on it. OMG...soooo good!

Yak and Yeti is one of the few places I'd go to twice in one trip. I've heard that full service is better than the counter service. Almost everything on the menu appeals to me... but the service and food was wonderful when we were there in 2009 and 2010. The decor is nice and I love relaxing with a safari amber ale draft after the first half of my day at Animal Kingdom.

Best Appetizer - Thai Chili Wings, Seared Ahi Tuna
Best Entree - Malaysian Seafood Curry, Baby Back Ribs
When we come back, I'd like to try something different, but it will be hard to pick something else.

Appetizers -- Lettuce cups were good, simple, but tasty. Seared Ahi Tuna - a definite winner. The Thai chili wings were really very good, spicy and sweet, not burning hot like hot peppers. Among the best wings I've had. Wok Fried green beans - very good, dipping sauce seems the same as what's on the wings.

Entrees -- The crispy Mahi Mahi was very good in 2009. DW was happy with the sweet and sour chicken. But the Malaysian Seafood Curry in 2010 was incredible. And the baby back ribs were very sweet and delicious - among the best.

Desserts - I really enjoyed the fried won tons dessert, and the mango pie.

We had lunch at Yak & Yeti in June and loved it. The service was great and everyone enjoyed their food. My BFF and I split the lettuce cups, and each had the tuna appetizer for our meal. Oh, and we also shared the green beans with the table. Our husbands split the wings and I don't remember what they had for their meals - I think a burger for one of them and some other meat entree. The portions weren't huge but we aren't big eaters. This is way more food than we typically eat (which is why we split a few things). There were just so many things we wanted to try!

And although we liked the Tusker House buffet as well, we would always choose a restaurant with a menu versus a buffet. I just like getting my food fresh from the kitchen and not worry about how long somethings been on the buffet or who may have sneezed on the food :rolleyes1

We recently tried Yak & Yeti and I would give it a big thumbs up. I had the ribs for dinner and they were just as good if not better than Flame Tree. I was skeptical from the mixed reviews, but this place was great.

Thanks for the thread! We have YnY for lunch VERY soon (YEAH!) and DH specifically chose it because with small kids he LOVES a table service to relax- only for just a minute, and its also his kind of menu.
Now saying that we have 12 noon lunch reservations - but we are not big breakfast people. Probably granola bars and then a shared popcorn/snack 10-11ish so he DH will be ready for lunch. How big are the portions really? Are they super small (like the ribs, beef and broccoli, honey chicken etc)? or just like a normal lunch size?

Does anyone have any experience with the kids menu?
Thanks so much!

This has been our must-do restaurant since it opened. We love the beauty, watching the parade, and the food is some of the best we have had.

I had the steak and shrimp and just loved it. I really wish I'd asked for the chili plum sauce recipe. That was sooo good.

And the fried wontons were yummy too.
I went solo and I'll be bringing the family back there someday. :thumbsup2

I think someone already referred to this but DO NOT confuse the counter service with the table service. We've had the counter service a couple times and the last time, it was awful! I would eat lunch at the table service multiple times if I could but will not do the counter service anymore:eek:

Yeah, I wasn't impressed with the counter service either, but at least with counter service it isn't as much of a loss. :)

has anyone tried the lo mein here? ive never been here before and this is what i plan on getting when i get here

I tried it when they first opened and wasn't impressed. The wok fried green beans were good but the server brought out the entree right after he brought the beans so he took it back and it sat under a heat lamp. The entree (honey chicken) was very bland. The fried wontons were really good, though.

I think the most off-putting thing for me was when the server brought the check. I was on the dining plan and instead of bringing me the itemized bill it showed zeros and he "told" me how much I should leave for a tip!!

However, in the spirit of fairness I am going to give them another try in April! :)

We LOVE Yak and Yeti!

I had the maple tamarind chicken. It was just okay, but dh and the ribs and ods had the lo mein and enjoyed it very much. The wonton dessert is worth the trip by itself.

Don't forget to order the Yak Attack (one of their specialty drinks). Sooo good!

Have eaten here a few times and find it a nice option in Animal Kingdom where table service is scarce. I found I liked the appetizers more than the entrees, and tend to make a meal out of those. (Lettuce cups and split the egg rolls with someone else is MORE than enough food)
