Anyone eat there? What do you think? Still need a few more Adr's...was thinking of this for lunch.

Greetings from a fellow Jerseyan!

We just had lunch there last week, and I was a bit disappointed. The decor is really interesting, but the food is mediocre. We enjoyed the appetizers (fried green beans, lettuce cups, pot stickers), but found the entrees to be just your average chinese food. I had the mandarin salad, and it was pretty bland. I've had a similar salad at the Applebee's that was much better.

Our server really rushed us to order (tapping his pen on the table while one guest was deciding on her drink order), but then neglected us during the meal itself. For us it was just ok, nothing special.

We did, however, really enjoy the lunch buffet at Tusker House. Lots of variety, and interesting spices. I thought it was a tasty, good value.

Enjoy your trip!

That's disappointing! I don't know where in Jersey you are but after reading the menu I thought it sounded a little like PFChangs. I don't know if you've ever been but we love it there! That's why I thought we would enjoy Yak and Yeti. I hadn't even thought of Tusker House but I'll look into it...thanks!:goodvibes

Yeah, I was disappointed too, because it seemed like such a good idea. I thought it was going to be an interesting pan-asian flavor, but not so. We have some great Asian options here in central NJ (New Brunswick area), unfortunately Y&Y couldn't be compared with them. Just my opinion...

I haven't been to PF Chang's, so I can't make a comparison.

If you do go to Tusker, aim for lunch. It's more expensive at dinner, and the selection is basically the same. We were there around 3:30/4:00, and it was $20 pp.

Another Jerseyer here... We went to Y&Y in November and the only reason we are going back is because it is the only sit down in AK. The food is average at best.

We're going for lunch on our next trip. About the only item that gets consistently good reviews is the green bean appetizer. Anyone had an entree that was decent???

In January 2008...

I had the Baby Back Ribs... I thought they were good. As well, I am not that into sweets and our desserts were very good. We had the Fried Wontons and the Chocolate Brownie Sundae. For Apps- we got egg rolls, green beans, and the Dim Sum Basket. They were also good. Of course on the Deluxe Dining Plan we had a lot of food leftover and in "real undisney" life we would never get Apps, entree and dessert.

All of the people in my group really enjoyed the meal. We are not super picky and PFChangs sounds pretty good to me right now... I had a diet coke for lunch.

This was a good option for us. Animal Kingdom does not offer as many table options as some of the other places. It was a quiet and pleasant lunch. On our previous trip to that park we did CS and ate under a canopy of sorts. There were many birds- not a problem for me, but others found it annoying.

Gotta love PF Changs! Now I don't know what to do. I think I'll figure out all the rest first and then save that for last. Thanks for all the info though... much appreciated!:flower3:

We ate at Y&Y for the first time last week and LOVED it! I was really reluctant due to bad reviews here on the DIS but I'm so glad we kept it. My entire family liked it. I had the crispy honey chicken with jasmine rice, my husband had the sweet and sour chicken with brown rice and my daughter had the vegetable lo mein - again we all loved our meals and cleaned our plates. Dessert was ok, we both had the brownie sundaes. If you love PF Changs, definitely give this place at least one shot. You won't be disappointed. :thumbsup2

We LOVE Y&Y!!! I must recommend the crispy honey chicken with jasmine rice and the potsticker appetizer! We have an ADR for our September trip and it's one that I'm looking the most forward to - you should definitely give it a shot! :thumbsup2

We ate there in April. It wasn't horrible, but we live in a city with a lot of Asian and Asian fusion restaurants, and we've been to China twice so we've eaten a lot of Asian food, and we agreed it was okay. I had the shrimp tempura, and wished I had gotten the honey chicken. I would've liked it better. Egg rolls were good (what we got for our appetizer). Decor is great. Drinks were good (if you drink). Our waiter was very good, patient and we had refills on iced tea, water. I did really like the spiced tea, enough to buy some from the shop outside.

Another suggestion- the Moroccan restaurant. We eat a lot of Middle Eastern and Afghan food (not much Moroccan), and we really liked it.

Ok, you all have convinced me...I'm going to call tomorrow to see if I can get an Adr for the day we are at AK! :thumbsup2

BTW I would love to try some of the places in the different countries...always wanted to try Morrocan (sorry if I butchered that) but others in our party would have a coronary if I even suggested it! :rotfl2:

Thanks for all your help and please keep the suggestions coming!:thumbsup2

We ate at Yak and Yeti a few weeks after it opened and Loved it! I had the Pho and have never seen so many shrimps. The side dishes and sauce add ins were great as well to customize it.

My husband had the Chicken Lo Mein and it was ok.

We had the trio of sorbets for dessert, perfect.

That was Flame Tree BBQ... we were there last Nov. I loved the atmosphere until my idiot husband gave a bird some bread (I told him not to) and we ended up surrounded by begger birds. Didn't care for the food though.

We will likely eat at Y&Y just because there is nowhere else to go. Tusker house was not my cup of tea and I want a TS.

We loved the Yak & Yeti. Ended up doing it twice in January, and we already have ADRs for our next trip in October.

We did two lunches with a group of seven people each time. Between the entire group, we ended up trying about 75% of the menu. There wasn't a single complaint.

One of the best things about Y&Y is the location. It's in the back/middle of the park, midway between the safari and EE. And it's right next to the rapids ride, bird show and tiger trail. The location is ideal for a lunch break.

When we got home, and talked about what we liked on the trip, two people named Yak & Yeti their favorite restaurant of the entire vacation.

Ok, just got off the phone...made ressies for lunch at Y&Y! Also made ressies at Spoodles, anyone ever eat there?

I know you're discussing TS here but in Morocco there is a FABULOUS CS restaraunt - Tangierine Cafe - and they do have hamburgers & other kids choices. This would be a great way to quickly & inexpensively try some Moroccan food. They have a vegetarian combo platter with about 5 different Moroccan foods that is delicious. I think it was hummus, pita bread, couscous, tabouleh, falafel & marinated olives. YUM.
