Yak and Yeti ...

I'll be visiting the Animal Kingdom in December of this year, and would like to have a meal at the new restaurant set to open before too long. Anybody know the opening date? And anybody got any idea when reservations will be accepted for this table service spot?

Not to highjack the thread but has anyone got an idea of what they will serve as in type of food I think I read somewhere that is was chineese but I was not sure? and we would like to know.

No, it's not certain if it will. And there's no sign of it being a character meal. There will be one at Tusker House when it reopens as a TS restaurant.

Pan-Asian or Asian fusion is all I've read as descriptions of the food. Which doesn't help much, does it?

Oh we are so excited about this. We are hoping for Indian type cuisine. My son-in-law is from Nepal so we are also hoping for Nepali - Indian type cuisine to go along with the Everest ride. We are going at the end of November - beginning of December so we are hoping that it is open at that time.

1) There are thoughts that it WILL NOT be on the Dining Plan.
2) Some think it will not take ADR's.
3) This is because it is owned by Landry's.
4) Also, Tusker House is becoming a TS.
5) Some thought this was made because it gives AK a TS on the Dining Plan.

6) As for characters, the answer is no.
7) They have a character meal at AK.

According to my hot-off-the-press 2008 Unofficial Guide:

"This new table service restaurant will be open for lunch and dinner. Menu items will include Vietnamese spring rolls, chicken satay, pot stickers, wonton soup, stir-fries, clay pot coconut curried fish, shrimp, and mussels."

We're going to try it in January...unless we read horrible reviews on this board beforehand!

Tusker House will have Donald and friends for breakfast. The rumor I read talked about a Jungle Book themed breakfast. Again, not much faith in it. But it would be nice.

We attended a family style meal, in a private room at Tusker House a few years ago. It was only open to AP holders, & they served African cuisine. The food was great!!! I was hoping Y&Y would serve similar food, without the family style set-up. Oh well, let's hope they're better at Asian cuisine than other restaurants in WDW.
