Has that restaurant just become that busy? It's been a few years and normally always been able to get a spot. Any other places to grab lunch that isn't tusker house that my aunt can get some good cooling down time. We go in Sept and know it will still be hot.

There have been a series of posts about the inability to get ADRs for a variety of eateries.
Isn’t Y&Y a Landry operation? Perhaps a reservation could be made from their website?

It is Landry's - can't make a reservation from their web site, but you can if you are a member of Landry's Club. It's a small fee, but allows members to call for reservations or even walk-up to Y&Y and get on a list for a table day-of.

No, it’s always been kinda scarce on Disney’s system. I think they just prefer people walk up. If you’re a Landry’s Member you can call and make a reservation for up to 6 ($25 to join, get $25 towards your first meal, get $25 in your bday month- great deal!).

I don’t have alot to go on but seems more popular in recent years - harder to find good ADR times, busier when we get there.

I would pick Tiffins / Nomad Lounge for food in AK. Or if you just want air conditioning for your aunt to rest in, Pizzafari. May need to do a mobile order and show it to get in. I’m not going to recommend the food at Pizzafari, it’s serviceable. Not a fan of Y&Y here.

(Before any Y&Y fans come for me - I’m one less person to compete for ADRs with!)

One last option for your aunt would be Rainforest Cafe, right outside the gates. I think it’s even possible to eat there without leaving the park, but it’s been quite a few years so I could be wrong.

ETA I’d prefer Tiffins!

You can enter from within the park, but have to scan in to go back in to AK, since there is also an entrance to RC from outside the park.

Keep in mind that eating at RFC, you, your aunt, whoever, would have to walk all the way to the front of the park, which means walking all the way back into the park after lunch. Unless you plan on leaving after lunch, I don't recommend this.

Satu'li in Pandora has indoor seating and good food for a QS.

Definitely worth it to join Landry's club. It doesn't actually cost anything because you pay $25, but get a $25 gift card. Then you earn points when you dine and get $25 gift for your birthday. I was able to call and get a reservation when there were none available through Disney.

Yep this you basically get your money back immediately. Well worth it IMO even though the only Landry's restaurant I plan to dine at is Y&Y.

One thing that Disney needs to really look at when they do the Tropical Americas replacement for Dinoland is putting in a standard 1 TS dining option in there. As it stand Y&Y kind of has the monopoly inside the park I believe. The Rainforest cafe is at the front/outside of the park, but that is aimed at young children. Tusker house, which is a character dining buffet, so also aimed more for children, this is WDW after all so thats fine. Tusker House has interesting food but also being a buffet turns some people off. Tiffins is there but that's a signature dining so is more expensive and would cost 2 TS meals if on the DDP. Y&Y is really the only 1 TS meal non-buffet meal inside the park.

I like your idea of another TS dining option, and I hope they're listening! Over the years, we've enjoyed Y&Y and Tiffins/Nomad many times. Rainforest used to be a place we'd dine occasionally, but several poor experiences and we haven't been there in many years. But dinner options at AK are challenging because of how early they tend to close the park most of the year. Another option would be welcomed!

Over the past 3 years or so I've seen Y&Y be recommended more frequently, so I wouldn't be surprised if getting an ADR there is a bit harder now. But I do think its always been a decently popular spot; it's my family's go-to when we want a TS in AK. If Tusker House is out of the question then the only non-signature TS that leaves is Rainforest Cafe at the front of the park, but I would recommend Satu'li Canteen. It may be QS but it has a lot of seating so I don't think you'd have much issue with taking your time to cool down there.

HUGELY agree with this. AK's got some fantastic QS options but feels like it really could use one more standard TS to round it out. Though with how early AK closes I wonder if Disney sees much need for it? I think a lot of people use their AK day to try a resort or Disney Springs restaurant that interests them because of the early closing. I still think it would be a good addition though.

Technically you exit the park, they have tap styles to get back in. I would not dine there unless leaving AK after due to its location right at the park entrance.

So funny because back in the day I had issues with some restaurants and the other day I looked for chef Mickey, space 220, seven dwarves story book and had no problem weeks after my ADR date to find a bunch. I was thinking the opposite, at least for those few.

this is a great idea and they could easily put in a TS with a Mexican/Central America/South American Flair. They could even, of course, make it character dining with quite a few Central and South American movies/shows/cartoons and even Mexican (technically North America).

I think there's a lot of possibilities with the theming they are going for/rumored for the Tropical Americas area.
