Received a noticed yesterday saying my Sirrus was going to "rollover" at the end of Sept. automatically at about $146/mo. with all the fees. I wasn't planning on renewing anyway, so I called to cancel the automatic rollover and they offered me a rate of $82/mo. until 8/11 I'm doing the happy dance:dance3:

$146 a month???? Are you kidding? It cost like $10, $12 a subscription. How many radios do you have?????

I'm sure the OP meant yearly instead of monthly.

I got a free year with my new car last summer - I called to ask about renewals and got that same rate of about $145/year. I declined it and let my subscription expire. A few days later I called and got the $77/year rate. Next year it should automatically renew at $145 and I'll call and cancel before then.

I did get two other family cars updated as well, and paid about $96/year for them. That was the best rate I was offered a few weeks earlier. Since my price point was under a hundred bucks for the year, I took it. But I'm glad I got this new rate for me!!

OK, I can understand that most likely, OP got her "mo." and "yr." misplaced.

But what I cannot understand is "with all the fees", as generally, both Sirius and XM are, for the most part, flat-rate fee services (the only exceptions are if you add certain content like NFL/Stern on your XM supscrition and MLB/Oprah to your Sirius service).

Can you please enlighten us, CTdiznymom?

YIKES MY BAD - I meant year! I guess I was too excitd to same some $$

In the original price we were also paying a Music Royalty fee of about $25

We also just got our renewal from Sirius. I had the pleasure of speaking to Cesear. I believe he was from Jamaica, based on his accent. Not willing to cut a deal at all.

So...the one thing I have learned from my friends on the DIS...if you do not like the customer service rep you get...call, call, and call again until there is someone who understands exactly what you need.

So - my question for CTdiznymom - did you just get this deal from regular customer service - i.e. the phone number listed on the automatic renewal notice - or did you ask ot be transfered to someone higher?

Thanks!

We didn't have the same experience with them :( We called to cancel service because our radio was going bad and they just canceled it for us...no offers, nothing.

OP here. We called the number on the auto renewal notice. Got a real person after a few automated questions and simply told them that we were going to have to cancel our plan as of the rollover date bc it was too expensive at this time. They immediately offered the discount and asked us if that would work for us and we agreed it would. We have had the plan for 2 years on a 3 yr. leased vehicle.

Just cancel it. Then they will do pretty much anything to get you back. I sold a car that Sirius. Needless to say, I cancelled it before selling. I told them why I was canceling. Suddenly they are attacking me to re-up. I explained so many times I'd gotten rid of the car. Still tehy persisted.

Just cancel and I think by the end of the week they'll be paying you to turn it back on!

Until I read that it was an annual rate not a monthly I was thinking WOW why would anyone pay that much for radio. At an annual rate it is much better.

The Sirius on our Dodge Ram was due to expire at the beginning of July. We had received a couple of offers in the mail, but they were nowhere near what others had been getting through the Budget Board. So a day or two before our's was due to expire I called and told the Cust. Service Rep that I would continue service with the best deal possible. She pretty much quoted me the same deals I had received in the mail. I told her no thanks. While I was on the phone with her, she did take down my e-mail address (which they hadn't had previously). In less than a week, I had been e-mailed the $79+ offer. I called the next day and had the service turned back on.

Hubby was happy! :cool1: I was happy to not pay so much for the service. I would have probably paid it if not for here. Hubby spends a lot of time in his truck out of town and satellite radio of any brand is way better than trying to find a decent station to listen to. Plus, I'd rather have hands on the wheel rather than dealing with loading and unloading CDs while driving. :thumbsup2

I was a little disappointed to learn though that XM and Sirius are definitely two different entities even though they both have a lot of the same programs. I have XM in my car and was hoping to do an add-on on the Ram radio.

i cancelled mine, then they sent me to another rep and i declined again - then another rep. I got it down to 4 bucks a month x6 months. LOL.

I am not a huge fan, but my DD likes it for radio disney, so I kept it for about 6 months after my free year was up. They started sending lots of offers, the last one in May was for 6 months of service for $20 ttl. I decided to do that since DD and I run around alot in the summer while she is not in school. So i have service until November and it only cost me $20 total. Keep not renewing and the offers get better and better.

I did that a few years back....and they sent me a new radio for free along with a discounted service plan!!!
