Yahoo messenger question

I've asked this before, and cannot remember.
I want to delete a contact and do not wish him to bother me anymore (no more pop ups "how are you").....
I went to "messenger" folder and then clicked on preferences and added his e-mail and indicated to hide him ....what else do I need to know.

the ONLY way to ensure you do not recieve messages is to put the person in your ignore list -to do that open your messenger client-click on the messenger drop down-select preferences-then ignore list-you have two options-if you select ignore anyone not on my messenger list you will not recieve messages from anyone not on your contact list-but you will also not recieve new add requests-
The other option is to select the second radial button-ignore only these people-click the add button and type in his user name. that will ensure you do not recieve messages any longer
of course since yahoo does not send him a message annoucing any of those changes you all so have the option of simply closing any messages he sends and not responding.
