If you were to do it over again is it better with a rental car or better to use DIsney transport all week??

Every year, hands down, I rely on Disney Transportation 99 percent of the time, with a few cabs thrown in every once in a while.

We have done both and prefer to have a car. We can ususally find a compact for about 125-150 for the week and the flexibility is worth the $. While the Disney transporation is nice, I really hate having to wait and add that time to my day. Really depends on you. I know I'm impatient and even when I'm relaxing, I need control and don't want to wait 10 minutes.

Rental car only for us. We like to dine at different resorts and allowing 15 minutes to get back and fourth is great. Not the 90 minutes or more by bus. Plus we like to go to the grocery store, outlets, and like having lunch at Margarittaville too!

Whether we stay on or off property, we always rent a car. We like to come and go as we please and go directly to our desired destiantion, not wait around for a cab or a crowded bus which makes several stops before it gets to where we want to go.

Car. I don't like waiting around for a bus, then standing on a bus, then waiting while the bus makes stops at multiple resort hotels and then finally getting to a park. The car is much more convenient and I always get a seat.

We have used Disney Transportation before and the last time we were there we vowed to always have a car. We hate riding the buses. There always seems to be a long wait and then they squeeze way too many people on board.

The only Disney Transportation we like is the monorail.

For longer trips, we usually rely on Disney transportation. Our longer trips are less hurried so if we have to wait for a bus, it's no big deal.

For shorter trips, especially when we have dinner reservations at resorts, having a rental car is easier. Basically, if we are shorter on time and desire more convenience, we rent a car.

We always rent a car that we use for getting to and from the resort and for going off-site, but use Disney transportation on site. The night it took us over an hour to just get out of the MK parking lot at park close did it for us. It's never taken that long riding the bus, even if we have to wait for a bus (or two) to show up.

Bus service. We have stayed at CBR and AKL and used the bus exclusively each time. From AKL the longest ride once was 16 mins to MK. Not the end of the world to wait a few mins for a bus and just have someone drive you where you need to go.

Car!

When we want to go to a restaurant, park, shop, etc, the last thing I want to do is wait for a bus. Yes, there's an expense that goes along with renting a car, but the freedom you have is well worth the money.

I vote for Disney transportation. Let them take care of all the driving! We've never had a problem with it and it's nice just to forget about the car for a week.

We drive our own car to WDW, but we do not use it the entire time we are there. We find WDW buses to be extremely convenient. We love to be picked up and dropped off right by our room or the park gates. We will only use our car for DTD (bus service out of there sucks!)

agreed!:thumbsup2
We like not dealing with directions and driving on unfamiliar roads. We don't mind the bus (for the most part) and the $$ we'd spend on a car rental is better used on fun stuff!!

DD and I don't mind them. Have only had long wait issues once or twice. makes me stop & relax!!

the buses work....but it takes a LOT of extra time-no doubt about it. If time isn't a big factor, then save money -take the buses! I have, and I don't mind too much.....getting to/from parks isn't so bad,but getting to another hotel for a meal, etc is a real pain. It can be done, but it's rarely a straight shot.
A car is great to have, but costs extra. How much is that worth to you? My dh NEEDS his car, he likes to go offsite for dinners, going to a store, etc. We also like to use it for almost everything except going to MK!
we got a med. sized car for 2 weeks for about 220.00 on hotwire, which is a great price(total) worth it as my dh won't go without one;)

My daughter uses a wheel chair so we typically use a car (except maybe going to Magic Kingdom), but this past January we went for a long weekend without a car and were pleasantly surprised how well the busses worked going everywhere.

We almost always have a rental car. But there was a time I decided to try disney transportation and leave the rental car in the hotel, depends on the crowd, I prefer my rental car.

Buses all the way!!! We drive down pulling our camper. Once we set up and then make our Wal-Mart run, the truck goes in the front lot!! We do rent a golf cart for putzing around the campground, but use the buses and boats for going to the parks and going to eat. We eat at other resorts a LOT.

However, we are faaaaaar from commandos. We may spend an hour or two at the parks per day, MAX. The rest of the time is spent chilling around the campground, going to meals, chilling at the campground, riding the golf cart around the campground, etc., etc. We do go to late night EMH at the parks.
