Is the Yachtsman Steakhouse a good resturaunt? Would this be a nice pace to eat after wedding for us and our 5 year old? We are getting married on valentines day in Kissimmee at a wedding chapel and need a nice place for dinner. Also wanted it to be at one of the resorts. What is the dress code here?

We just ate there Thursday night for the first time. We enjoyed it very much the food and service was excellent during dinner. The dress was nice but not formal. I didn't see any children but I'm sure they would be welcomed.

I would also make the reservations on the early side if possable, as we were leaving there were many guest waiting to be seated that had a ADR.

Note: When we were ready to leave the server brought our check in a timely manner, however she didn't return to the table for almost 25 minutes. She had cleared the table so we had no drinks...just sat there waiting on her to reappear.

The Yachtsmen steakhouse is a favorite of ours. I have had only great food and great service, but have read recently about people having really bad service issues.

We have 3 kids (5, 9, and 15) they also really enjoy it. When we have been there, they bring the kids their own little appetizer & veggie plates. They have the Disney coloring/game menus & crayons. For dessert, they have a really cute selection for kids that consists of a plate with food coloring paints and white chocolate and I think I remember a cupcake that they decorate. ??It has been over a year since we were there with the kids but it was really cute, fun & yummy, though!

Dress is nice casual.

Try the bananas foster martini - it is the BEST!!

Happy planning & congratulations!

There is a thread here on the DIS specifically dealing with the new Dress Code at the Yachtsman.
We were there last week and the service was outstanding. I was disappointed in my meal, but that may have been that my expectations were so high! I had the sirloin with the Stilton Blue Cheese sauce and I felt the sauce was overpowering. DH and DS were also a little disappointed.
I don't think you shoud be discouraged by our experience, dining is a very personal choice.
As far as a nice restaurant, with a nice atmosphere and good service on your special night, I would go ahead and go.
Congratulations and have a wonderful dinner.

We ate there last month for the first time and everything was great. There were children in the dining room as well as older couples and a long table of business people.

We loved our meal there in may, but I will say the filet at Citrico's put the filet at Yachtsman to shame ;) But it was still good - better than any chain restaurant filet for sure - service was great and atmosphere nice and fairly casual =)

We had our wedding dinner there after our Boardwalk wedding. It was perfect. Dress, I've seen shorts and tee shirts all the way up to us, me in my wedding dress and men in tuxedo's.

I had dinner there on Friday night, an 8:30 ADR made that morning. The food was excellent, the service perfect and as usual, a great meal and a great evening.
The new dress code was not being enforced, which is too bad. There were people there in jeans. The restaurant is too nice to allow this level of dress. Business casual should be enforced.
There were young kids there, some infants. But they were quiet and did not disturb the other diners.
