We're taking the extened family to WDW in January. On the day we arrive, I have arranged for an Illuminations Cruise. We will probably have to be at the dock about 8:15 pm. Their flight arrives at 4:30. I want to take them to dinner and figure the best place would be somewhere around Y&BC or BWV's . If I make a ressie for 6:30 pm- do you think we'll have enough time to eat and get to the dock on time?

AND

I've never eaten at this restaurant. How is the food? Can you please tell me about some of your experiences and best dishes there? What the atmospeher like? thanks!

Oops! I should add that we are styaing at BCV's and my DH and I will have already checked into the resort for them. So we don't need to consider travel time from resort to the restaurant.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere is an upscale steakhouse, wood panelled walls, fireplace and cowboy/ranching paintings. The service is impecable. We have the steaks the best on property, as is the leg of lamb.
Cant say enough good things about this restaurant. It is very close to the dock and you should have plenty of time with your schedule.

You should have time, however, being the way that I am, I would probably book a PS for at least 2 hours before. You never know when you are going to run into a wait and not be seated on time and I wouldnt want to be stressed during my meal.
As for the food, we loved it! We had our anniversary dinner there last summer and it was an absolutely perfect meal. Heres a link to my review if you are interested.

Thnaks for the link to your review. It sounds like you had a wonderful time! And- it's made me even more excited to try this place!

Does anyone have any pics of this restaurant?

Thanks again Camcolt! That steak does look YUMMY!!!! And your DH ain't too bad either ! ;)

We were at Yachtsmans on Oct 15th and were there for 1-1/2 to 2 hours. We did have app., meal and dessert w/coffee. So we may have taken longer than usual. It was a very laid back night.

Enjoy!!

We love the Yachtsman and have eaten there on every trip since they opened. The service is wonderful and the food some of the best at Disney. They serve the yummiest roasted garlic and butter to spread on your bread.

Only thing I want to caution you is that we always seem to have to wait in the lounge for our table. I would arrive at least 15 min. prior to your PS and mention to the host/hostess you have the cruise.

You are very close to the dock. You could see it from the windows of the restaurant if Storm along Bay wasn't there.

We love the Yachtsman. Great steaks. Great atmosphere. Great service.

When you check-in at the podium, be sure to tell them of your need to be out of there by a specific time. Also tell your server once you are seated. They will do their best to meet your schedule.

As far as servers go, we love Oscar if we have a choice.

ROFL! After seeing that beer he didnt care what the food was like. ;)

Its was my experience that most Disney restaurants complete your meal as fast as possible. They don't rush you, but there is very little time between courses or when you finish eating and the check arrives. We went to several different restaurants on our honeymoon and with the exception of the Cal. Grill no meal took more than an hour.

Hi karebear1,

We had dinner at the Yachtsman last week and it in the top three for sure. The food was fantastic but the service really stands out in my mind. The wait staff there really take their careers seriously and do a great job. One of the things I liked the most was that our waiter mentioned that if we would like to switch any of the sides or sauces from one dish to another they would be happy to oblige. So that is exactly what I did… the filet from one dish… the sauce (blue cheese) from another and the mushroom risotto from a third dish was absolutely perfect for me since I could not decide. I got the best of all three dishes that I was considering!

Enjoy!
