MY HUSBAND AND I WILL BE DINING AT THE YACHTSMAN STEAKHOUSE IN SEPTEMBER AND WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD SHARE THEIR DINING EXPERIENCE THERE. WE'RE ON THE SILVER PLAN AND WAS JUST WONDERING IF THIS IS A GOOD 2 WISH RESTAURANT?

THANKS FOR INFO,
JANIE:D

Howdy!!

I've never used a 'dinning plan' so I can't give yer much advice on that....but I can tell yer that it's a great place! Especially if you enjoy a very good steak. Many cuts avaliable...all aged....but the menu includes some very good an inovative alternatives too!

Personally, I've never known anyone who didn't enjoy eating thar.

Hope this helps! :)

Our absolute favorite restaurant at WDW. We eat there every trip (about 4-5 per year). The food is always excellent and the service, although at times isn't as good "as the last time", is always good. The food, well I could go on & on but I won't. I'll just give you my very favorites:

The Backfin Crab Cakes
Caesar Salad
The Yachtsman Filet (it absolutely melts in your mouth), oh and those garlic smashed potatoes
My DW tried the Medallions of Filet (with Blue Cheese & spinach) she really enjoyed it

The desserts look great, but I have never been so inclined. After the filet & sharing a bottle of wine, I just can't find the place to store it. Oh, speaking of wine, they have quite a nice selection.

The atmosphere is nice. Not too stuffy, nice white cotton tablecloths, comfortable seating, and you are not too close to the other table, a feature I especially like. Get there early and enjoy a drink in the Crew's Cup Lounge, it too is very nice.

You have made an excellent choice. Enjoy!

DW and I had our anniversary dinner there in late May. DW is a dedicated carnivore, and rated it as one of the top 5 steaks in her life. I enjoyed it too, though not quite as much as DW. We tried the dessert sampler and OMG:eek: It was the best. Very nice place. Enjoy:D

Is this steakhouse at the BC/YC - If so can you use connections vouchers?

The Yachtsman is at the YC/BC. I'm not sure about connections vouchers - I know they will take good old American greenbacks though.

Yachtsman's is also one of my must-do's every trip--I usually go with different people, sometimes DH, sometimes my brother, sometimes friends, but it doesn't matter--we HAVE to go to Yachtsman's. It was the first PS I made for my trip next week. I've tried the filet, the NY strip, and the prime rib, and loved them all. And whoever mentioned the garlic mashed potatoes--YUM! They also have fabulous desserts. I hope you enjoy it!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR INPUT. IT SOUNDS TERRIFIC AND I'M SURE WE'LL HAVE A WONDERFUL DINNER. WHEN WE RETURN FROM OUR TRIP IN SEPTEMBER, I'LL MAKE SURE TO WRITE A REVIEW.

THANKS AGAIN,
JANIE:p

Just saw your thread and had to post. This was one of our faves on our Thanksgiving 2002 trip. We made a PS there the day before due to the fact that we were going on an Illuminations Cruise and wanted something convenient to the dock.

It was fantastic! The steaks were delicious! We're not easy to impress since we feel the best steaks we eat are the ones we make ourselves at home. It was a more upscale restaurant, but my two boys (9 & 14) didn't feel out of place at all. We decided to splurge and get a bottle of wine and desserts. I think our total bill with tip for the four of us was about $200, but it was well worth it. The service was fantastic. We will definitely be eating at the Yachtsman on our next trip.

I liked the YSH in the late 90s. On our last visit it was not up to par. The quality of both the food and the service had dramatically gone in the hopper. We have not been back since and in all honesty have no desire to return. They are better places for steak on property.

My hubby and I have been to Yachtsman several times and have enjoyed our meals every time. Just one thing take your appetite with you because you get plenty of food and good service.

We too eat her 2-3 times a year. DS has been devouring their filets since age 6! We went our last 3 visits on the Silver Plan. It definitely paid off when 12 year old DS had soup, the filet & lobster and then dessert - we came out way ahead. I am not much of a meat eater but I love their soups, spinach salad and the cheg will always make a grilled veggie dish, or now, they have added Sea Bass. Just go hungry!!!!!

Yachtsman is our favorite WDW restaurant. We go there every trip, in fact, we'll be there this Monday night! My husband always gets the filet, and depending on how I feel I'll either have filet or the beef medallions with blue cheese.

My kids also like it because of the paintable white chocolate Mickey puzzle for dessert.;)

To answer the question of is it a good 2 wish choice on the Silver Plan - YES! We ate there in July and the food was great. Our total was $275.27 for myself, DH, DS(11) and DS(7). Considering our wishes used for that meal cost $256, we got our full value out of them.
