Going here for dinner this month.
Haven’t been there in a long time.
How are the steaks and lobster ?

Also, do they let you switch vegetables if you don’t like what your steak comes with ?

Thanks

My wife and I had dinner there on 12/7. The service was excellent, and the filet I ordered was among the best I've had anywhere. As a native New Englander, I've had more than my share of lobster at fine establishments, and thought the broiled lobster my wife ordered was just OK. Desert was also good, but underwhelming. If it's steak you're after, Yachtsman is tough to beat, IMO. I haven't had Le Cellier since the days it was buffeteria style so I couldn't compare.

Thanks. My wife loves steak, she usually gets the rib eye.
I tend to eat fish and chicken more than red meat but I do like to get a steak now and then.
I was leaning towards the lobster but maybe I’ll get a steak.

Hard to say based on one service, because it could have been an "off" night, or less than stellar shipment. If you really prefer the seafood, I wouldn't necessarily hesitate as there was nothing at all wrong with it, but I guess I expected a bit more, or that it would rival the incredible beef they served me. BTW -I had intended on ordering an aged KC (my favorite cut) or Porterhouse, but decided on the standard filet under the guidance of our server and was not disappointed.

They have always let us know that we are free to switch out any of the potatoes and sauces if we didn't like what came with a particular meal.

We ate there in November. You could substitute any of the potatoes that came with the steak for any of the other potatoes....but not other sides like th creamed spinach.

We had lobster bisque and shrimp cocktail and enjoyed both, though the steak was the standout. Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Also thought the desserts were stellar --- the new chocolate cake dessert was mammoth and amazing.

Thanks. Good to know they let you substitute the potatoes.

The chacuterie plate is always excellent there. The starter salad is decent as is the lobster bisque but not anything out of the ordinary. Filet, NY strip, and ribeye were all excellent. I have only had steak there. Although I have a sweet tooth, the desserts here never seem to really grab my attention, and the 2 times we have had them, they were good but not great.

My brother had a seafood entree there and it was "ok" by his standards. We went to Flying Fish later that week and that was much much better for seafood entrees.

I had the best filet I've ever had there, and DH loved his ribeye. They did offer to substitute sides but I don't remember which ones were available. They also let you get a soup or salad (the wedge is amazing!) instead of the dessert on the DDP. We've always had excellent service there.

Thanks, would love to get soup instead of dessert!

The steak has always been great there and the one time my daughter asked to change some veggies they did so with no problem. As to the lobster thing I cannot tell you (Jewish and I can't understand why people eat those things).

It's a nice place to eat. The steak falls short of a top-tier steakhouse but it's still pretty good. Never had the lobster there.

I had the ribeye there in Sept & no problem subbing out the side. I think the only limit was that it had to be a side that normally was served with another entree (a 'regular' side) as opposed to a special extra cost side. It was an excellent dinner with wonderful service. Wouldn't hesitate to go back and would always recommend.

All personal opinion - I'm not necessarily right, no one else is necessarily wrong.....

Book Shula's, at the Dolphin.
