What's the dress code?

Will we enjoy the food?

Is it worth 2 credits?

Thanks!

When we went I wore Khaki's and a polo. The steak was very good. The sides were terrific. All in all it was a great meal.

We love the Yachtsman, tons of pics and review in my April link. DH wore nice jeans, clean sneakers and a polo. I wore a black skort, solid color tee and nice flip flops...compared to others we were overdressed!

Totally worth the 2TS. DH wore Khaki slack and a polo, I work white linen capri and blouse, we both had on flips.

Everything was fantastic, we had a seat by the windows, the little part that protrudes out (overlooking where the rocking chairs are on the YC pathway).

I recommend that you request Oscar to be your servers, he was a hoot and knew exactly what he was talking about.

If you like mushrooms, make sure to order them. Yum

We eat at the Yaghtsman every trip, which is about 3 times a year.
Dress code is casual, slacks, nice shirt for men. Same for women. There are a few who don't follow the dress code and the restaurant never seems to say anything. What is so hard about a pair of slacks and a nice shirt...oh well....

The meal is wonderful and great service. I'm sure you will enjoy it.....

Wonderful food and fantastic service!! :lovestruc

we had Oscar too...he was great! :goodvibes

DH and DS wore Dress shorts and sports shirts, I wore dress pants and a blouse.
I know we are in the minority here, but we do not like, and will not return to the YS. We have tried 3 times.
The restaurant is beautiful and the service has been wonderful. We just feel the food is way over sauced/spiced. For example my potatoes were horseradish mashed potatoes. I love horseradish and make a horseradish sauce to eat with my steak at home. I could not eat these potatoes. And so it was for all 3 of us - on each trip, for every meal.
Have a Good Trip

For the dress code - from as casual as shorts/jeans and tees (no offensive language/graphics) to formal wear is within the stated dress code. Generally I wear khaki shorts and a plain tee, DH wears a polo and khaki shorts, sneakers, crocs or sandals for footwear - this is pretty much our everyday attire while at WDW. The food is excellent - we've got 2 meals planned here for Oct.

We went last year and loved it! The food and service were excellent. We are going back next month. Definitely worth the 2 credits. :thumbsup2

It is very good I was just their on Sunday! My favorite is the porterhouse ( I had the filet, but I ended up eating dh's porterhouse!) Also, the cheese platter is amazing!

Being overdressed is a matter of personal opinion. :confused3 I personally like to dress up when I go out to dinner becuase I feel it adds to my experience. That's the great thing about Disney you don't have to dress up (they won't turn you away) but you can if you want to (and I do!) :thumbsup2

The food was great, service was amazing but I can't understand the need for a dress code if it is not enforced. Knowing we had a res. that night I brought a nice golf shirt and changed into it just before arriving and put away my ball cap.

Once inside I looked at my wife and just shook my head. There were a hand full of people wearing everything you are not suppose to. As far as I am concerned it is a part of the experience, I mean really, how hard is it to put on a nice shirt, a pair of shorts that were not once your favorite pair of jeans and tuck your ball cap or Goofy hat in your bag and enjoy a nice meal. I might get to a restaurant like this maybe once or twice a year and wish they wouldn't bow to the lowest and let them in. You are told when making the reservation and it's all over the net, don't tell me you didn't know.

Here at home a dress code is just that, if you don't comply you don't get in period! If you think I'm some rich dude I'm not, just a heavy equipment operator who likes to take his wife to a nice place once and a while. The dinning plan is the death of the nice restaurant in Disney. Portobello Yacht club is one place getting replaced because Disney needs more family dinning (dumbed down DDP restaurant) and it sucks. We have great memories from there, plus you could get in on a whim instead of booking three years ahead of time.

I'm sorry about the rant, YC is a great experience.

Just got back from our trip last night and we enjoyed a very good meal at YSH. As far as dress code, yes, they do let it slide and as with others, I was kind of bummed by that but to each their own I guess. I wore a dress with heels, hubby wore dress shorts and a nice button down, but for us it was a "date", to others it is simply dinner. Like I said to each their own.....

As far as food, we both had the porterhouse. If I have one complaint it was that they season the beef before cooking and I found my serving to be a bit to highly salted. I don't know for sure if it was a seasoned salt or regular salt mixed with other seasonings. It was not bad enough to send it back and when our waitressed asked our overall opinion of the meal at the end of our dinner, I mentioned it to her and she said that comment has been made before so I would advise asking that they not season the beef too heavily. The cuts of meat they use are fabulous so there is really no reason to do that! lol

The garlic rolls they serve as part of your bread course are insanely good too!

My biggest let down was the dessert selection. I think they could do better personally but I worked for a pastry chef for many years so I'm definitely biased.

Worth 2 credits? Yes but I think California Grill is still the best at WDW!

I agree my husband and I look at it as a date also. We like to be dressed. It's all part of the experience. When my children were little we did the same with them. If they were going to a nicer restaurant they were dressed for it. I guess disney does not want to turn anyone away. When you make a reservation for these restaurants you are told about the dress code. I guess no one is listening.........
