I haven't been in nearly 9 years, but used to love this restaurant. I'm heading down for my 40th and just made an adr here for the night of my birthday. I've read some recent reviews that have me worried. has anybody been recently that had a good experience?

We love YSH and it is a must do on every trip. We will be eating there next Tuesday night and dined there most recently last August.

Recently, as in last July. We had a lovely meal there, and a wonderful, albeit shortened experience for part of our family. Now, we do have a 13 year old and a (then) 3 year old. Our daughter was up fresh from a nap shortly before we got there and behaved quite nicely for most of the meal. We had finished our salads and entrees' when she began to fidget a bit. She wasn't loud and didn't disturb anyone else, but with a 3-year old, you never know. Since it is a fairly reserved restaurant and most people there want to enjoy a nice dining experience, my daughter and I ordered our dessert to go and my husband and son stayed for theirs, lingered over coffee & the desserts and then brought ours back to the room. Our server was happy to oblige packing ours to go and actually asked why we were leaving. When we explained that we were seeing signs of future discontent, he thanked us for noticing before it was a problem. He did tell us that many people who bring kids aren't really prepared to deal with problems and often ignore crying and screaming because they "paid so much for their meal". Well, we know how much we paid, and we respected the other patrons and workers the same way we hope they would respect us. So, was it an inconvenience, yes...but, that's part of parenting, even in WDW.

Sorry, I digress, but I have noticed a lot more people with noisy kids there and it can detract from the experience. We have enjoyed Yachtsman's for several years though, and haven't noticed any decrease in quality of food, certainly not in decor and atmosphere, and have always had great CMs.

Just our experience, enjoy! :)

My husband and I love the Yachtsmen:love: , we make it a point to go there as often as possible. Try the onion bread you will love it and crave it when you are at home. My husband looks forward to having that treat everytime we go! Honestly I think he could just eat the onion bread instead of ordering a big meal! Try it, you won't be disappointed!:woohoo:

We ate there in Oct of '05 for our aniversary and are going back to celebrate my birthday in Sept! We love the mushrooms!

I don't know what to think about Yachtsman. In October '06 we had a fabulous meal there. Two of the best steaks we have ever had! Great appetizers, service was excellent, a wonderful experience!

We returned in January & had a not so great meal. The quality of the steak was not the same. A Tuna Tartar appetizer that was plated beautifully on our last trip came out looking very sad all alone in a bowl, lacking the pita crisps for dipping. Our potatoes came out very cold & service was lacking.

I'm sure we will give them another try as the Beach Club is our home resort, and our visit in October was so wonderful. Hopefully it was just one off night.

We ate there in February and had a wonderful meal. Oscar was our server, and he took wonderful care of us. Marc, the manager or asst. manager, also packed up a Mickey puzzle for us to take back for our daughter. She wanted to come, but she decided to hang out with her cousins instead. We have yet to have a bad meal there, and we've eaten there about 6 times since 2003.
