DH and I are planning a nice dinner at YS on the 2nd night of our stay before everyone starts checking in from our Grand Gathering on the following day. Our plan is to have dinner at 7:00 and then go the Epcot afterwards as they are having EMH that night.

I know they have a dress code of business casual. CM told me shirts with a collar for men. My question is since we are going to Epcot afterwards, would it be okay to wear shorts and gym shoes or would that look tacky in a nice restaurant? If shorts are out of place, I could wear capris and sandals but DH is not a sandal person and would like to wear comfortable shoes if possible since we'll be doing a lot of walking afterwards. If we would look out of place, then we'll forget the shorts and gym shoes and dress up more.

Also where do you pick up tickets for HDDR? Do you get them when you check in?
:wave2:
TIA

As long as the shorts are cutoffs or really bad and the gym shoes are decent, I'd say go with that. Been to Yachtsman before and there were lots of people dressed this way. They are trying to cut down on the tank tops and flip flops issue. You won't be turned away.

You pick up the Hoop Dee Doo tickets in your resort lobby. You have to go to Guest Services at your resort. If you get them before the day you are going, put them into your resort safe.

That would not be too tacky at all. It would be perfectly acceptable. You will see many others in shorts and sneakers as well, and everyone will not have a collared shirt on.

Thanks, Disnut8! No, we don't wear cut offs or flip flops, so no problem there. Our shorts will be nice and I'll probably wear a dressier top but not too dressy. Also our gym shoes are clean and look new even though they are about a year old.

Thanks, Webray. We've been going to WDW regularly for 11 years now and don't often get to go out for a nice dinner at WDW without the kids very often. I've been to Portobello YC and Fulton's but can't remember how everyone dressed. It seemed liked there was a mix.

Now I'm thinking of switching to Narcoosee's instead of YC but they are business casual as well.

Thats good to know that shorts are alright . I have a reservation for next week and then will have the fireworks cruise after. :)

Disneytraveler, I see that you only have 3 days to go! I have 15 days left and it's seems worse now then when it was 3 months to go. Every day seems like it is dragging. But I'm really starting to get pumped now.

Enjoy your dinner and cruise and have a great time at Disney!!

My DH and I went there last October on our honeymoon. I wore black dress pants with a nice dress shirt. I wore flip flops on the way there from CSR, then I changed into my heels outside of the hotel. I carried a bag big enough to fit them! :rotfl:

The cutest shoes are the most painful!

Dominia, Would you say most people were dressed up like you or were there more in shorts?

We'll be celebrating our anniversary at the California Grill and plan to wear similar clothes - they also have the same dress code.

We love the YSH and go there almost every trip. You see people in all kinds of clothes. But for the majority, they are dressed in collared shirts and nice shorts or dockers for the men and nice shorts, capris, summer dresses or skirts, for the ladies. Often you see little girls in cute sun dresses.

Ask for Zack .. he's a wonderful server. :thumbsup2

It was mixed. Some people were dressed like us, and some were in what I call "golf attire" with khaki shorts, polo shirt and loafers.

For me, dressing up makes a special occassion even more special

Thanks ! Now its even closer!
Yes it will be a new one for me to try. Don and Juanita at the Akl IPO suggested it since i have the cruise nearby. :Pinkbounc

When we went in early August most were not in shorts, most were in casual slacks and polo shirts for men, women in skirts, dress pants and nice tops.

That is not to say shorts are not acceptable; that was just what was worn during our dinner.

At first, I was going to go with shorts but after reading all these replies, it sounds like most dress up. I think we will drive instead of taking the bus so we can dress up and bring a change of clothes for afterwards. Then we can drive from there to Epcot for EMH.

Thanks for all your help!
