I need some advice.

I had my mind set on the Wagyu at yactman & even made the ADR in anticipation that we would love it.

Then started to 2nd guess it.

#1- I read a not so good review of it.
#2- At V&A- we did a chef tasting & the plate with both Kobe & Wagyu- we REALLY, REALLY preferred the Kobe. Now with 14 whatever courses- the Wagyu was not our favorite dish but your least favorite at V&A's COULD still be the best choice at Yachtman- KWIM?

Now I'm torn. My husband is convinced he's not doing it. what should I do?

If not the Wagyu- then what is your suggestion? I LOVE Narcoosee's filet. I remember being blown away by it. But we went to Yachtman several years ago & I remember the steak just being OK> not blown away.

I need to hear from someone who's been there lately. Maybe it's changed.

Help? TIA!

The last two times we have been there both the filet and strip were very tasty. They both had flavorful sauces but they lightly applied and did not overpower the beef.

Yachtsman still hand cuts their steaks daily and if you haven't been there in a while there has been a change in Chefs - since they move every 2-3 years on average.

Yachtsman is where my family and I have celebrated all of our special dinners birthdays and anniversaries for the last 3-4 years. Alot of us love the filet mignon and the gratin potatoe and some love the seafood which is different seasonally.

Wagyu is not always on the menu and the online menus are not the most current it will change by season and availability.

Have a great time whatever choice you make.

Wagu is the american version of Kobe, personally I do not care for either.

Give me a good old angus ribeye...tons of flavor, very tender.

Any by the way...Yachtsman...horrible food and service, especially if you know what a good steak is.

DH and I just ate there in October for our Honeymoon/Anniversary, and guess what we got? Yep the Wagyu and it was tough. The waitress talked about how good it was, not so. We didn't like any of our meal there. My scallops were undercooked, almost raw. His lobster bisque tasted rancid. The mashed potatoes, which were regular white potatoes, tasted like they added sugar to them they were so sweet. He got a fruit gratin kind of thing it was like shoe leather, I got a strawberry cornbread desert that had way too much liquer on it, that's all you could taste. I'll never go back. It was out of the way to go there since we weren't staying at the resort, and the food was terrible. The service was great our waitress was very friendly and the food was out pretty quickly. Too bad the food wasn't terrible I liked the place overall.

My DH & I were at Yachtsman in September. We loved it. I thought the filet was much better than Narcoossee's (we were also there in September --thank you deluxe dining plan) But anyway, I'd return to Yachtsman over Narcoossee's anyday.

I thought our server was excellent and the food was very very good. Enjoy!:goodvibes

I've been to Yachtsman many times over the years (most recently in March 2008). Experiences have all been very positive - great food and service. I hesitate to recommend any particular entree, as your taste in steaks may not be the same as mine. But, it is a wonderful restaurant and I am sure you will have a fine meal there.
