Would you choose the Yachtsman Steakhouse or Tutto Italia for dinner?

I like both and it would depend on what I was hungry for. But, i would likely tip in favor of the Yachtsman.

We've eaten at Tutto in the past and hated it...What they consider Italian cuisine is NOTHING compared to any Italian restaurants in New England. Their food (to us) was very bland not flavorful like the Italian food we're used to eating - we wouldn't return. As for the Yachtsman - I've heard a lot of good things about it, many folks we know have gone and LOVED it with that said we just made a reservation at Yachtsman for October - can't wait to try it!:)

The Yachtsman Steakhouse gets my vote. Tutto Italia is a study in overpriced mediocrity.

I know that when I rag on Disney's Italian restaurants, people probably look at my stats and think, "Well, you can't trust her opinion, she's from New Jersey." But it isn't being in such close proximity to a ton of Italian-American restaurants with influences from Sicily and Puglia that color my opinion. I think the Italian restaurants by me are mostly slop, too. My grandparents came to America from the Piedmont and Lombardy regions of Italy, so I know and prefer Northern Italian cuisine. The reason I dislike Tutto Italia is because it's the kind of cooking that I do myself with far better results. There just isn't time for bad Italian, especially in Disney. The Yachtsman, on the other hand, has good steaks and great appetizers and sides.

I have vacationed in Italy and Tutto wasn't close to what I experienced there nor is it good compared to good Italian American here (if you want that, go to Il Mulino at the Swan).

While Yachtsman is not one of my top picks for dining at WDW (the filet is okay, none of the other cuts have impressed me here), I do prefer it over Tutto.

I voted for YSH although I like both of them. We eat out for Italian food alot at home but don't go to a steakhouse as often so that's why I voted for YSH.

Yachtsman. But if you are paying oop Shula's is better for about the same money.

we thought that the Yachtsman was great the last time we were there. the only problem we had was the our reservation was for 715 and we waited 90 min past that for our table. they said it was because we were a table for 2 and they did not have enough of these tables ready. once we got seated the food was great and we both said we would go back as long as we did not have the wait we had.

We eat eat @ Yachtsmen every year. I know Shulas may be better, but it is our favorite steakhouse. My kids have always enjoyed it their and still request we go.
Their lobster bisque is delish and so is their scallops and caesar salad. Filet and augratin potatoes is what I always order. Yachstmen sundae for dessert, those cherries are great.

Now last year was the first time we ate @ Tutto and I have to say it is now my favorite Epcot restauraunt.( i donot like the Olive Garden here where I live) The lasagna was fabulous and I donot like lasagna( tried my hubbys) I had the ravioli which was very tasty and my sons meatballs were the best I have ever had. The service was the best we have ever had, alot of people say they feel rushed, but our waiter was attentive not pushy out the door type.

so I would have to say it would really depend on what you may be in the mood for .If you are on ddp Tutto is a deal and if you want to take 2ts then Yachstmen is a good deal. good luck but I donot think you can go wrong with either.

What would you recommend instead?

Between the two, I'd rather eat Yachtsman's table scraps over traditionally dining at Tutto. Like Sweet Melissa said above, I can make better quality, less salty and more flavorful Italian food in my own kitchen as compared to what is served at Tutto. It's glorified counter service quality at higher-end table service prices.

I'd say you're better off at Il Mulino if you really want Italian, but you'd have to pay out of pocket if you're on the dining plan, as they do not accept it. Similarly, Shula's is a better choice for steaks, but they also do not accept the dining plan.

We liked Tutto when we went but haven't been in a few years...better choices in Epcot in our opinion.

We do love the Yachtsman when we go every year.

Another vote for YSH :dance3:

Ate there for the first time last year.We thought not only was it the best meal we have ever had at WDW it was one of the best dinners we've had on vacation. The service was top-notch too.
We also did TI but felt we would have rather gone to the Maggianos on I-Drive(if we had a car;)) The service felt rushed and while the food was good it was nothing special(espically at those prices:eek:).

We've done both, several times, and every meal has been wonderful.

BUT...if we had to choose one over the other, my family would choose the "Yachtsman".

I like Tutto, just because it was the first place my DW and I ate on our honeymoon back in 1991 and my first DW dining experience ever. And yes I know it was Alfredo's back then but to me it is exactly the same.

That being said we LOVE Yachtsman every time we dine there. It reminds us of an upscale steak house we visit once or twice a year up here in Boston. We were there for my DW's birthday a few years back and had a table in the back overlooking Storm Along Bay and the windmill and it was beautiful.

We have never had a bad meal there.

The last time I ate at Tutto was TERRIBLE! They didn't have some of the options for dinner and there were little bugs flying around the tables everywhere. I spent half my time swatting them. The service was slow and the plates just stacked up on the table.

Yatchman all the way! Or if you want something a little more casual, why not try Via Napoli? I really enjoyed it there!
