We are staying at the Yacht Club in a few weeks. Is there standard room request I should make. Maybe what side of the hotel to ask for or what floor to stay on?

First of all make sure they know it is your honeymoon. Nothing is guaranteed but we homeymooned at the BC and had a great room with a water view on the first floor. Very private. It was in an alcove.
Aside from that I usually ask for top floor. It is usually a bit on the quiet side. You can request a water view or pool view if you want but again unless you pay for it nothing is for certain. As long as you are not disappointed it can't hurt to ask. I have loved every room at the Yacht and Beach club and usually get my requests. Have a great Honeymoon. It looks like I will be in labor while you say I do!;)

We will also be at YC 7/04-7/11. Let me take this opportunity and wish you all the happiness in the world. What a wonderful place to start your lives together!!:D If I see a couple with a neverending smile.....I'll know it's you!:Pinkbounc

Samantha,
How do you go about asking for a room upgrade without it costing you? Should I ask it with a fax or wait until I show up in person? Also, best of luck to you and your soon to be baby!

Buzz,
You won't be able to miss us. We'll be the corny couple with the hats. I lost that battle with my fw. Another clue to finding us is look for the couple that the wife is driving the husband crazy. That will be us! Feel free to say hi!

I usually make the request when I book the room. That is when I would mention the honeymoon. It is not too late to call reservations back and have them add this. You can also fax but I never do both. The trouble with faxing is that I am never sure it gets where it is meant to go. When you call in the request it is noted on the reservation. You can ask again at check too that way you are sure they are aware of the request.
I know some people hate this. There has been tons of debate on the board about it. I would say this, there are times I pay for the special requests and when times are a bit tight I just ask (nicely) for certain views. When I do not pay I do not get disappointed and would never get demanding. I think it is OK to ask as long as it is done with a smile and the smile doesn't turn into sulking when the request isn't granted. You won't need to sulk though you will be on your HONEYMOON!! It will be great no matter what!!!
Have fun and try to remember EVERYTHING!

NCBUZZ ::: we too will be at YC, from 7/7-7/14. We have a standard room, and hoping we can upgrade, since my Ds and I will celebrating out birthdays. Hopefully we will al see each other :)
You can find me, by the one that is complaining about the heat! LOL

Hey Kerlynne! We'll be there at the exact same dates as you! We also booked standard view but will see once we check in if we can upgrade. We will be celebrating my DD 14th birthday and 8th grade graduation in WDW. We weren't planning a WDW vacation this year but with the FTP, we just couldn't pass it up. Can't wait to get there!:Pinkbounc

Seems like there are quite a few of us in and around those days!! Be sure and wear your lime green ribbons and say hello!! I know I'm looking forward to going and would be ecstatic to know there are others there at the same time that put as much thought and energy to going as I do. Don't you just love this board!!!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Synchrosk8r,
My DS(15) and his friend(15) will be going also. We'll be the ones with both 15 year olds trying to look cool by SAB.

Liquid,

Congrats on the impending nuptials. My DW and I stayed at YC on our honeymoon back in '98 and just loved it. We had a beautiful water view room on the third floor overlooking Crescent Lake and the Boardwalk. If you can do it I would see if you can get one of the rooms in the 3157-3163 block at YC. You won't be disappointed with the view.

Definitely alert them to the fact that you are on your honeymoon and anywhere else that you go, or at least dress the part (i.e. matching hats, outfits, etc.). We did that and received complimentary champagne at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, and picked up some free dessert at the ESPN Club.

Whatever happens...ENJOY!!

Brian

We had the MOST AMAZING room at the YC. It was room 2079...unbelievable view of Illumination FW, Boardwalk and the wedding pavillion, plus it was close to the elevators. I had faxed the room assignor three days before our arrival requesting a view of either BW or Epcot and boy did we get both!!!

The YC is a beautiful resort with a great staff and SAB, the only reason we aren't staying there again this trip is the lack of quick food choices and the walk to MGM is slightly longer than from BW.

You will love the YC! Good luck getting a great view!

Have a great trip!

We are really thinking about going all the way, and staying concierge, for our July visit. What I want to know, is it really worth it. Like is there a limit to the amount of food you can eat. It will be cheaper I think, to eat the food there, then to eating in the parks. Especially since I'm not a big eater, and being so hot, we may not eat as much anyway. However, my DH I'm wondering about. Like can he take seconds?(I'm assuming the plates are little). I don't want to sound cheap, or anything, just trying to think if it's worth it. I mean, I didn't want to always go back to the resort, to get moneys worth of the snacks, But know I'm thinking about it, we may go back to the resort a lot just to cool off and change clothes. I figure, with eating breakfast up in concierge only will put as half way. I saw breakfast else where would be about $30.

The Concierge lounge is definietly a way to avoid spending money on breakfast or maybe for a very lite dinner but I would not count on having filling meals for lunch or dinner. Other than breakfast it is snack/appetizer/dessert type foods and drinks.
Yes, your DH can have seconds, thirds, etc as much as he wants and yes the plates are the small appetizer sized plates you find at the appetizer and dessert sections of most buffets.
