My best friend and I will be at the Yacht Club (upgraded from CSR yipeeee!!) Nov. 22-25 and I have a couple of questions.

1. Our kids are having fits looking at the pictures of Stormalong Bay. I understand that the pool is heated, but can we realistically expect to swim this time of year??

2. We are used to having a food court at the resort, but it looks like Huricane Hanna's is it at the Yacht Club. Is this completely outdoors? How convenient is it for the refillable mugs?

3. We have 3 kids with us. Ages (12, 7, 5) We have a std. view room. Any room request suggestions?

4. How far is the walk to the boardwalk? Is there a bakery on the boardwalk?

5. Anything special for the kids at this resort that I should be on the lookout for?

Thank you!!!

I can at least answer this question, yes there is a bakery at the Boardwalk called "Boardwalk Bakery". Very good stuff! Walk about 10-15 min or take the boat launch at the lighthouse, the kids should like that!

Also, there are many restaurant options at BW.

Have a great trip!

Stormalong Bay...yes, I think you can swim this time of the year...isn't it still hot in Florida? Floridians will have to help me out on this one!

Hurricane Hanna's is completely outdoors and not at all convenient to fill mugs. You can refill mugs at the Yacht Club Galley during breakfast and lunch hours. YC Galley is located in the lobby of the YC. You can also refill at Beaches & Cream which is the ice cream shop at the Beach Club, which is a short walk over. The mugs are YC/BC mugs.

As far as standard view rooms...I have no specific rooms to suggest. We lucked out and were upgraded to a water view room when we were there. But it was not a busy week...we had rom 3052 (I'm pretty sure that was the number!)

We live about an hour away, near Tampa, and the weather here has been very swim-friendly so far! Unless the weather changes drastically in the next few weeks, you should be able to realistically plan on swimming in the afternoon, at least.

Hurricane Hannah's is outdoors and is pretty convenient if you're at the pool or on your way to the Friendship boats or to Epcot. We were also able to get our mugs refilled at the Crew's Cup Lounge (coffee for us & soda for DD) and at Beaches and Cream. In the mornings we got coffee and soda refills at the little breakfast area in the lobby (forget the name).

5. Anything special for the kids at this resort that I should be on the lookout for?

I'm not sure about any special kids' activities, but our 9 year old DD loved our late-night ice cream sundae pig-out at Beaches & Cream. No Way Joses are yummy and great for sharing!

1. My kids (9,7) prefer Stormalong Bay over almost any other place on planet earth. Yes, you can realistically swim in the winter, the water is heated. We usually go in January and always spend many hours in Stormalong Bay. On cooler days, have towels ready to wrap them up in as soon as they leave the water and you will be good to go.

2. As mentioned above, the Yacht Club galley is a great place for a sit down meal, the prices are really reasonable there. I love Beaches and Cream but it is often crowded as seating is limited. You can get take out there and eat outside though. Also, there are several snack carts and a pizza window in addition to the Bakery over at the BoardWalk.

3. I highly recommend a lagoon view from the 3rd or 4th floor. I know this can be more expensive, but aaaahhhhhhh, the memories I have of just sitting out on the balcony watching the Boardwalk lights glitter on the bay at night after the kids are asleep - magic!

4. It is not a long (5 or 10 minutes?) walk over to the BoardWalk and it is very pleasant. However, the kids always prefer to take the boat over, it takes longer but they love to sit in the back where it is open air.

5. If you can rip them (kids) out of the pool for an evening, you might check them into the SandCastle club while you sneak out for a few hours at the Adventurers' Club at Pleasure Island. We did this once and the kids kept bugging us to go out again so they could go back to their club. :teeth: Also, don't miss out on the roaming performers over at the BoardWalk, they often work audience members including kids into the act, much fun!

If you are used to a food court situation, you may be slightly disappointed. However, there are so many restaurant choices with kid's menus that you should be okay. ESPN Club has a kid friendly menu and the Boardwalk has a walk-up pizza window and a few fast food stands. Boardwalk Bakery and Seashore Sweets have some good choices.

Yes...you can realistically expect to swim at that time of year. My DW and I stayed at YC on our honeymoon, which was mid-November, and we swam just about every day.

I believe this is where you can get your mugs re-filled. Convenience is relative to where you're actually swimming in the vastness that is SAB. It is outside.

3. We have 3 kids with us. Ages (12, 7, 5) We have a std. view room. Any room request suggestions?

Sounds as though you've already made your request. The only thing I can think of is if you want to be located close to the elevators. That might be good, but then again you might hear people getting on and off the elevators at all times.

.

Boardwalk is only a 5-10 minute walk. There is a bakery on the Boardwalk.

5. Anything special for the kids at this resort that I should be on the lookout for?

If it's still there I believe there is an arcade pretty much right next to B & C. There's also the Sandcastle Club, but that's more for you to drop your kids off while you have some quiet time.

Hope that helps!!

Brian

you can fill your mugs at Beaches n cream, or Hurricane hannahs. in the morning, there is coffee set up in the BC lobby, also at the YC, but it seems if there is a convention, sometimes it is just fro them.
