Yacht club or wilderness lodge?

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but as the title says - yacht club or wilderness lodge? The price difference for an 8 night stay is £300 (around $400). We will probably visit all the parks evenly. This will be 8 nights in mid November 2019. The pool at the yacht club looks great, but not sure how often we will go if it’s colder in November. What would you do?

November may not be that cold. I'd go with the cheaper option but really it depends on your plans. WL is wonderful and quiet. Great access to MK and the monorail resorts as well as FW.
YC is also great, lots of activity and people, walking distance to HS, Epcot, and of course a great pool.
Think about where you will spend the most time and maybe go from there.

I would choose Yacht Club, especially if you won't have a car. Wilderness Lodge has great bus service to Magic Kingdom. The bus service from Wilderness Lodge to the other parks is typical - you may have a long wait. I thought the access to monorail resorts was bad. There's a boat to Contemporary, but it's buggy at night and not something you would want to do in the rain. When the weather was bad, I was told to take the bus to the Magic Kingdom and then take the bus from there to Contemporary. There is no easy access to Poly or Grand Floridian.

At Yacht Club, you can easily walk to 4 other hotels as well as Epcot and DHS.

How many people are in your party? We are a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 teens) and the standard WL rooms are tight for us. The bunk bed did not work for us, and the room with 2 regular beds does not include a daybed too.

However, the YC rooms are more spacious and newly renovated. Plus some/most (not sure of exact numbers) of the rooms have a daybed included with the 2 queen beds.

Besides the room, YC also wins for us because of the capability to walk to both Epcot and HS.

Nothing personal against WL because it's a very nice resort! But my vote goes to YC due to reasons above.

Both are great resorts but I absolutely love the new YC rooms. I have also been in November multiple times and we have pretty much always had perfect swimming weather. I also prefer the dining options at YC, especially since the WL will no longer have a normal table service restaurant (WC has the antics and a pretty specific bbq type menu and AP is becoming a character meal). I would give the slight edge to YC, but both resorts are fantastic, you can't go wrong.

I would look at your park days and make that a deciding factor. Will you spend more days at MK? More at EP/DHS? How many are in your party and what are the ages of the guests? YC rooms are bigger than WL's and were recently refurbed. Though WL is gorgeous, for a longer trip, I would probably go with YC as you'll have more space and there is simply more to do in the area within walking distance.

I agree with most here that YC is the better option. More to do without depending on transportation plus you have the boardwalk for extra entertainment!

Just got back from the YC and would definitely pick to stay there again. The new rooms are amazing and we enjoyed the location for access to the parks, BC, and BW.

I'm partial to WL and would vote to stay there. WL had boat transportation to MK, but it is bus to all the other parks. However, the YC is in a great location between two parks within walking distance. SAB is a great pool, but November can be chilly, although the pool water is heated.

We couldn't decide! Ended up booking a split stay - 4 nights at YC, 3 nights at WL for our trip in 3 weeks. :)

I like both resorts, definitely the YC room is bigger and brighter and it has a better pool. If had a choice, I would do WL 1st and YC 2nd since you will be moving to a smaller room at WL.

Yacht Club currently allows pet dogs, so you might consider whether that affects your preference one way or the other.

Thanks! We are doing YC first based on what was available - but I agree with the room sizes for sure. It works out for this trip though because the latter half of our trip is much more MK focused.

I'm from RI too by the way! Currently living in MA, but moving back in the next year or so!

Is it Yacht Club that’s £300 more?

We’ve just finished a stay at Beach Club earlier this month. The vibe of the Beach and Yacht Club is just lovely - they’re connected and so you share facilities. The pool, Stormalong Bay, is incredible, and hands down the best pool I’ve ever experienced at a hotel or resort. There’s a slide, a volleyball court in the water, a lazy river complete with floats, a shallow pool for children, and lots of little lagoons and hot tubs. A lot of it is also sand bottomed. You have Hurricane Hanna’s for quick service food on one side, and Beaches and Cream on the other side if you want an ice cream to take with you - both locations also refill your refillable mugs. I guess my point is that the set up there is lovely - we also stayed at the Grand Floridian and while the main lobby there was incredible, the pools weren’t any match for Beach/ Yacht Club’s.

In Yacht Club you can walk to Epcot and get the ferry boat to Hollywood Studios - at Wilderness Lodge you can get the ferry boat to Magic Kingdom but everywhere else is by bus. I’d personally go for Yacht Club as I just prefer the theming there, and the pool can’t be beaten. That said, we’ve been in November before and while it was very hot on some days, it was quite cool on others, so I’d bear that in mind. :)

We're doing something very similar for our Christmas trip -- 12/20-12/23 at WL, 12/23-12/27 at BC. :) Would have loved to book a refurbished room at the YC, but we needed 1 BR suite and they didn't have any available.

OP, you didn't really share enough information to what defines an ideal trip, but their both good resorts that fill a lodging niche. WL is the isolated MK lodging option of the deluxe class option in the area. We have stayed at all four and WL for us would be our 4th choice. Not sure when you are visiting in November, but if on the later end Christmas decorations start to appear and PR and WL tend to be the most popular resorts. We have stayed at all of the deluxe resorts in the Epcot area. YC is a good choice, good location with ok bus service. Great location to consider park hoppers to take advantage of the WS dining options. Days and night tend to be on the cooler side, but during the day visits to the pool can be a nice option and break from the parks. Pools at night can be a hit or miss option as weather can vary from day to day.

After your trip, please come back and tell us which you preferred. Wilderness Lodge is easily my favorite resort and I've never stayed at Yacht Club, but I have stayed at Beach Club and Boardwalk and loved both of them. Yacht Club is also just so beautiful. Looking forward to hearing your opinions on both resorts.

I definitely will! We have stayed at Wilderness Lodge a few times, but this is my first time at an Epcot resort, let alone YC.

Do you mind sharing why the bunk beds did not work?
