Yacht Club or Double Tree?

Hi,
I have a 4 day trip booked at the Yacht Club for about $1500. The DoubleTree in Disney Springs is having a special and it is $490 for the 4 night. That is a huge difference. Any thoughts on switching?
Thanks,

I don't think there is any comparison to be made between those two other than they both have a bed and a bathroom, so I would say it's up to you and your comfort level of what you want to spend and where you want to be.

Yeah, that's a HUGE difference in location and amenities. Massive.

You'd lose the use of Magical Express, Extra Magic Hours, the early booking of FP+ through MDE, early access to ADRs. You'd be going from a Disney-operated deluxe resort that's in the center of WDW, in easy walking distance to two theme parks and the Boardwalk, to a rather generic hotel that's on the edge of the property. Near Disney Springs, yes, but it's not on the Disney transportation system. The hotel does operate a shuttle, but it's not nearly as frequent or convenient as the Disney system. If you were planning on driving to the theme parks, you'll have to pay the full daily parking fee. Guests of Disney resorts get free parking.

Oh, and the pool. Stormalong Bay.

Don't get me wrong, the Disney Springs hotels are perfectly good hotels, and they're absolutely more budget-friendly than a Disney deluxe. If none of the amenities/perks I mentioned above are of use to your group, then they're certainly worth considering.

ETA: I just looked at your signature, and see that you've stayed at the Doubletree before, as well as Disney resorts, so you're aware of the differences.

I agree it's apples and oranges, but I'll also say you won't necessarily go wrong either way given the price difference. Even if you factor in $100 each way for a private shuttle, that's a sizeable difference.

DoubleTree (as it seems like you know) is also not one of the "walkable" Disney Springs resorts. I often stay there for the convenience of having Disney Springs across the bridge. But, the DoubleTree is simply too far for that. It is well kept up, though. And, the suite set up is very nice.

Otherwise, if it's in the budget, the access to Epcot, pool area (assuming you use it), intimacy of the YC side (vs. BC with BCV), etc. make Yacht a great choice!

One final note - are your dates overlapping the Yacht & Beach Club renovations and expansions? I know that has impacted a number of guests. If you are paying that much, that may be something to consider (especially if you got an unrenovated room vs. an updated one).

What is the date of those rehabs? We are booked thee for June

Thanks everyone, I switched to the Doubletree. We do not use the Magic Express nor the EMH. We will be in the parks most the days so this time I will save the $1000.

They are updating all the rooms at Yacht Club and doing a major upgrade and expansion to the convention center. If I remember right, the room updates should be done around June. The convention center changes are scheduled to last through 2017. I'm not sure the overall plan, so you may want to check your room type and/or other features if that's key to you!

We stayed at the Doubletree last year and wouldn't hesitate staying again. The room was spacious/clean and breakfast buffet was great. I was surprised at the great customer service and how long some of the employees have worked at the hotel. Yacht club is great but you can't beat the value of Doubletree.

LoL....I for one love saving money, but it's hard to put a price on The disney bubble....

I tried it once ina 5 br house in Kissimmee, & really don't care to do that again....We didn't like leaving the mgic behind after leaving the parks..:confused3

This fully depends on your financial situation and if you can justify the extra $1000.00. If you can then Yacht club all the way. If you cant then Double Tree.

This is only a question you can answer. You'll have a blast either way.
