We will be beginning our Christmas trip the weekend after Thanksgiving with a one night stay at Yacht Club. We will be switching to BLT the next day (Sat, Nov. 30). The parks will be busy that weekend so, I am trying to learn about the Yacht Club so that, I can plan our fist night at Disney. Our plane gets in at 2:05 and we will take a Mears car from the airport so, I'm assuming it will be about 4 or so when we arrive at the resort.

Can you tell me what special things that go on at the Yacht Club in the evening that would be neat for my children (ages 5, 3 and 3) to experience? Is their a boat that goes to one of the parks? Also, any suggestions for fun places to have our first dinner that are easy to get to from YC and have good food?

Any suggestions would be wonderful. We have never stayed at an Epcot resort and are very, very much looking forward.

There is a movie and campfire/marshmallow roast on the beach every night (the movie is moved inside if there is inclement weather). The times and movies change each month and are reported around the first day of that month. Last November the campfire was at 5:30 and the movie at 7 PM.

The resort should be decorated for Christmas at that time so you should spend some time in the Yacht Club lobby and the nearby the Beach Club lobby for the gingerbread carousel.

Although weather that time of year can be iffy, Stormalong Bay, the pool complex at the Yacht Club, is awesome. It is heated, but the issue is getting out into the cold.

You can easily walk to the World Showcase in EPCOT in 10-15 minutes, even with young kids. There is a boat to Hollywood Studios.

I would like to invite you to check out the first page of the Yacht & Beach Club FAQ thread. Lots of information and pictures about the resort. Post 13 (FAQ) and Post 14 (Other Useful Info) would probably be very helpful to you.

Click on the link in my signature to get there.

Dining: If you are going to venture into EPCOT, Garden Grill might be fun with the family-style character meal. At the resort, there is Cape May Clambake (and more) buffet and Captain's Grille (Steak and More). The Yachtsman is a signature (fancy) steakhouse- 2 credits on dining plan.

So I used to work at Disney World and Disneyland both, my favorite fireworks display in the whole WORLD is the one at Epcot!! You will love it! If it hasn't changed since 2006, it's at 9pm! ;-)

Candy-can you see them from the beach at the YC?

The best place to watch Illuminations is from inside the park because so much of the show is low on the lake. If you don't want to use a park ticket, then the best place to watch would be the bridge between Boardwalk and Epcot. From there, you'll see the high fireworks from the show.

Yup, what she said!!! If you were going into the park anyways just go in for the show. There is a back way off the water into the park that puts you right where you need to be. BTW, best steak dinner I have EVER had in my life is from the YC Steak House, if you don't have dinner situated that night go there! ;-)

Oh and if you are a fan of really good beer, or if your husband is, go to Germany inside Epcot, probably some of the best brews I have ever had.
