Y&R take 3 - SPOILERS inside

i'm certainly not one to say that people who make hundreds of thousands or millions a year should get pay raises but that's how our countries work so that said

how many people here would take a pay cut at your work?

just wondering why so many (not just here) are down on these actors who want to get paid for not only the work they do but what was agreed to in the contract they signed.

I gotta agree, albeit begrudgingly, I do agree. Listening to what's going on with the execs at the banks and Fortune 500 companies these days, my question would be --are the network execs also taking a paycut? OR Would they be willing to take a paycut so that they could hold on to the talent, ensure the quality of their product, allowing all of us to continue enjoying it?

Great point!!

Chloe makes a choice between Billy and Chance
Will Lily and Cane make love?
Jill hires Paul for a special investigation

He doesn't have to take a pay cut....... but they don't have to keep him either........ And I also think that daytime dramas are on their last legs........

•JT tells Victoria he set up a job interview in New York, Victoria thinks this is JT's way at getting back at her for sleeping w/ Deacon. They argue again about Victor, JT tells Victoria she is just like her father and he has no intention of being married to Victor Newman!
•While preparing for the christening, Phyllis tells Nick she wants off Victor's property. Phyllis wants to start looking for another home, Nick brushes that off until after the christening!
•Jack and Katherine disagree about Jabot. Jabot is not what it used to be and the glory days there are over!
•Chloe shows Billy the issue that was supposed to be published by Phyllis, he hates it! Billy tells Chloe they are changing it, he is going to do a smear on Victor!!
•The christening is underway, Victor shows up w/ Nikki. Ashley names "her baby" Faith Colleen Newman. Sharon who comes from a one on one bereavement meeting, sees Nick holding Faith and it gets to her, Adam sees this. Adam starts telling Sharon the bad things he's done, well one of the bad things - seducing Rafe

That's right, I did it! It has been 1 week and 1 day since I've quit and I can't say that I miss it. I just can't stand to watch them ruin the show that I have watched since I was 3 years old. First it's Victor, next will be Catherine then Paul and Nicki...I just can't watch it.:sad2:

Sean Kanan has been written off. Apparently, he will be killed off and his little boy will go live with Amber.

gee I don't know why they are paying the big bucks to the writers...they can just pay us since we keep coming up with what will happen before it does. I guessed this what last week or so:lmao:

Although I'm happy to have Ashley get a backbone- I'm not like her high and mighty holier than thou attitude. She is being such a bag about the baby "being an Abbott" that it makes me think deep down she knows that the baby is NOT an Abbott. I thought my heart would break for her when she found out that Faith is Sharon's, but now I don't think it will. I can't wait for Sharon and Nick to claim their daughter.

I don't think I'll miss Victor. Does Eric Braeden realize that he is NOT REALLY VICTOR NEWMAN?? That is a character on a daytime soap opera.....

I to agree that Ashley deep down knows that it is not her baby......to many things keep pointing to that...little innuendos and her body language when talking about the baby. Said this a couple weeks back when she was doing things that were pointing to that.

i know some people are saying not in these words that victor, jill and nikki (last 2 did it) should suck it up and take the pay cut to stay on the show but i've got a question

i'm certainly not one to say that people who make hundreds of thousands or millions a year should get pay raises but that's how our countries work so that said

how many people here would take a pay cut at your work?

not to mention this news doesn't come at the end of your contract but in the middle

so basically your boss comes to you and says - i know we agreed and both signed a contract that i'll pay you $35k a year and i know it's not up until the end of next year but would you mind not getting your bonus this year and instead of waiting until next year to get a raise we're actually going to pay you $25k a year. sound good?

and yes people making thousands more then that should have more money saved but it still isn't right.

i don't know the ins and outs of the networks but who here doesn't sit back and say - gimme a break i bust my butt at work and my boss, prez of company, manager, vp - whoever does very little, plays golf, goes to "conferences" (ya i used to love that one) and gets the big bucks while i get nickled and dimed to death.

just wondering why so many (not just here) are down on these actors who want to get paid for not only the work they do but what was agreed to in the contract they signed.

He did say that he would take another pay cut but after the contract time was up. A contract is a contract and is legally binding. I can guarantee if he wanted a raise and all was going great the network would not give it to him until until contract time.

If I were him I would be fit to tied also. They keep bringing in all these other actors as they cry cuts. I bet that the CEO and executives, the writers are not going to take a pay cut till their contracts are up for re-negotiations.

Maybe that is why they are making Victor such an A** (more than usuall)and saying that he could give a crap about the Abbotts:eek: so we all say.....the he** with him just get rid of him. After all this time he has gone way tooooooo far. And as much as I like/hate Victor I agree that this time he has pushed me to the limit. But I do blame that on the writers for ruining his character...they made him evil...that is beyond Ruthless....

All I can say is if they keep it up I'll have more room on my DVR pirate:

I also agree with you. Just look at how many were canceled in the last few years but yet no new ones.
I hadn't noticed no new ones, but you're right. I think they truly don't have the budget to produce that they used to.

I have a feeling that if "Victor" leaves the show it won't be long until the Y&R goes off the air.. Yeah - he's a jerk - and his recent actions have been extremely evil - but most everything on that show centers around "The Moustache".. (And he's definitely not the type of character who can be "recast".. There's only "one" Victor..)

Nick seems to be turning out an awful lot like his dad.. One minute he's all kind and caring - and the next, you just want to smack him one..:rotfl:

Nick and Victoria are just like Victor in more ways than one.....all three have cheeted on their spouses.....Nick on both his spouces.

I think Victoria is more like Victor. They both have some of Nikki in them....that seems to help keep them from becoming Ruthless like Victor.

A Closer Look -- Adam

Adam begins a friendship with Sharon this week by opening up about is manipulative sexcapades with Rafe. Michael Muhney elaborates on the pair's intriguing new relationship.

WEEKLY: What prompts Adam to tell Sharon about Rafe?

MUHNEY: Sharon's going through this sense of, not self-loathing, but just regret about the things she's done. Adam is like, "Listen, we all have skeletons in our closets. We all have secrets and have done things we're not too proud of." There's a tremendous sense of guilt on Adam's part for stealing Sharon's baby, but also a sense of wanting to reassure her.

WEEKLY: How does Sharon respond?

MUHNEY: Sharon starts telling Adam the things she's done; that she's slept with people she had no business sleeping with. Adam says, "Yeah. That's great, but you're not even in the same universe as me. Here's what I've done." He's completely honest. He tells Sharon he slept with Rafe to manipulate him, and he's not even gay. Adam says he's ashamed of himself, that it was reprehensible to mess around with somebody like that.

WEEKLY: What's Sharon's reaction?

MUHNEY: Sharon's completely unreadable. At first, Adam mistakes her silence for judgment. That's a natural reaction for Adam, that people are going to judge him and hate him.

WEEKLY: But Sharon ends up being kind and understanding.

MUHNEY: Yes. Adam realizes he is truly forming a real friendship with someone who's willing to look the other way and accept him for who he is. It's a quid pro quo moment for the two of them. They've both revealed things they're not proud of, but there's a sense of, "Listen, we're all human. I've done thins I'm similarly ashamed of, but we have to move on. We all make mistakes."

WEEKLY: And so, a friendship is born...

MUHNEY: It's slowly building, and it's genuine. Here are two people who can really identify with each other. The more they talk to each other, the more it's like, "Wow! I've for a friend in someone I never thought I could have. Who knew we would have that much in common?"

WEEKLY: Adam and Sharon decide to be each other's "bad choice" sponsor. What's the gist of that?

MUHNEY: Sharon instigates it. She's like, "Listen. In the future, if there's ever a time when you're about to jump off the cliff, give me a holler. And I'll do the same. We'll talk each other off the ledge." Adam agrees to it. He's genuinely impressed with Sharon's ability to be the kind of friend he needs right now.

WEEKLY: How is your broken collarbone being handled on-screen?

MUHNEY: Well, I have to wear the sling. Fortunately, the week that I was in Colorado and got injured, the episode aired where Adam fell on all fours over an IV in the hospital. If any character would be believable enough to be wearing a sling, it's this guy, who is visually impaired and might occasionally take a spill.

SOD November Sweeps Preview

"There's going to be drama, heartbreak and a lot of romance," promises Co-Head Writer Scott Hamner. "The November sweeps stories will lead into Christmas."

Adam/Victor/Nick: Because of Adam's "support" of Victor, Adam is given a position at Newman Enterprises which his siblings (Nick and Victoria) are vehemently opposed to. Victor is firm and demands that they give Adam a chance. Adam uses this as an opportunity to poke at a very annoyed Nick and see how much he can take before he finally cracks. However, Nick isn't dumb and he knows what Adam is up to, so this is a pressure cooker situation where the two of them go at it. Nick is going to see just how far he can push Adam, as well.

Adam/Sharon/The Baby Switch: The way Adam worms his way into Sharon's life is very similar to the way he wormed his way into Ashley's life. Because Adam hold such a grudge against Nick, he's going to pursue a relationship with Sharon. Adam opens up to Sharon and tells her that he slept with Rafe, so Sharon lets her guard down and reveals some of her secrets to him as well. Adam takes advantage of her vulnerability, which pushes all of Nick's buttons.

Chloe/Chance: Chance is stabbed when he tries to stop a robbery. Chloe's world shifts when she hears that he's in the hospital fighting for his life. She comes to the realization that she may have thrown away her real chance at love. We're going to see a side of Chloe we haven't really seen before.

Mac/Billy: Billy buys Restless Style and does a vindictive expose' on Victor. Mac is furious, because it goes against everything she believes in. She and Billy struggle over their values and the fact that they're no longer the people they were when they were dating in high school.

Lily/Cane: Lily's condition improves, but she has a crisis. In that crisis, Neil sees just how much Cane really loves his daughter. Cane and Lily will be given Neil's blessing. The fact that they're able to overcome Cane's betrayal is part of that. They will finally begin planning for their future, which leads to a very big story for them in November.

Billy Plots Revenge

As Billy starts work at Restless Style, he's still furious that Victor received Colleen's heart because it's his fault that she died in the first place. As a result, Billy uses his newest power position to get revenge against Victor with a scathing cover story about how the mustache stole Colleen's heart.

"I don't even think he's thinking about whether this will test his credibility at an editor," acknowledges Billy Miller. "He's thinking that this is a good story and it's the truth, and why not put it out there? He wants to shed some light on what's happening, just who Victor is, what he's done, and not let him get away with what he did outright."

Jack drops by Restless Style to check on his brother and finds Billy working on the piece. Though he initially had doubts about whether or not Billy could handle running the magazine, Jack ends up helping him with the expose'! "Billy knows how to bait Jack into a fight with Victor," smiles Miller. "But he is upset that his brother doesn't want to leave in the best parts of the story. For instance, Jack wants to deal with the whole S.E.C. thing [the investigation into Victor's financial activities]."

Though things are going well for Billy at work, not everyone in his personal life is happy with him planning revenge. Chloe is supportive, but Mac is opposed to his actions. And when Ashley learns about the article, she is upset. She's the one who loaned him the money to buy Restless Style and she's disappointed he would use it like this. Meanwhile, Nick gets wind of the story and shows it to Victor. Will this trigger a reaction from Mr. Mustache?

"Billy's not even thinking about that," explains Miller. "He imagines that there might be some repercussions, but he also thinks that he can take care of it. he thinks that he knows what he's doing."

News of Victor’s (Eric Braeden) leaving hits the mainstream media!

http://insidetv.aol.com/2009/10/08/eric-braeden-leaving-the-young-and-the-restless/

Victor Newman, bidding Genoa City adieu forever? Say it isn't so!

Sadly, that seems to be the latest hit to daytime TV, as 'The Young and the Restless' star Eric Braeden, who has played manipulative, sometimes ruthless town gazillionaire and Newman family patriarch Victor since 1980, is leaving the Emmy-winning soap after a contract dispute with 'Y&R' production company Sony.

The star, who's won a Daytime Emmy, People's Choice Award, Soap Opera Digest Awards and a star on the Walk of Fame during his lengthy 'Y&R' stint, will leave the show just as his Victor is being sent off to Europe to rehab from a heart transplant. Braeden's last airdate, barring any last-minute negotiations, will be Nov. 2.

And about the possibility of such a reprieve: Braeden doesn't seem to think it's likely. The actor tells EW.com that he had volunteered to take a pay cut to help the show, but his offer was countered with a demand that he take an even heftier pay cut. He now considers Sony's method of negotiating disrespectful to all that he has contributed to helping 'Y&R' maintain its leading status among daytime dramas.

"There is no appreciation of the fact that I've been an important part of the show for 27 years that has been no. 1 in the ratings. That's extraordinary," says Braeden, the German-born actor (real name: Hans Jörg Gudegast) who also played Robin's (Cobie Smulders) dad on an episode of 'How I Met Your Mother.' "So to be dealt with in a perfunctory matter as if you had just known these people for a few months is what is most offensive. This is a certain corporate culture now that is very deleterious."

Braeden's shocking exit caps what has already been a tough year for the soap genre: 'Guiding Light,' the longest running daytime soap in history, was canceled by CBS and aired its series finale on Sept. 18; 'All My Children' announced that, to save money, it will move production from its New York City home base to Los Angeles; and rumors persist that ABC's 'One Life to Live' and CBS' 'As the World Turns' may be next on the chopping block.

If this show goes bye bye than it would be a great idea to start it over from day one.....I would love to watch it from the beginning again when all the actors and scrips were great. Maybe they can do that and pay the actors royalties as they come on the show and stop as there characters leave. That may be a lot cheeper. Same with ATWT...the actors on that years ago were sooooooooo good. I loved the scrips back than also.

I dont think that will happen but they will have to fill that time spot with something....so if they are to put reruns of shows why not the reruns from the soaps :confused3 Would you watch them?

i think you guys are wrong - the show will live on without poor old victor.

it's been going for how long now? 40 years or more - actors come and go and the show is still on.

mind you - if the dont' get better writers then all bets are off and the show will prob tank

I agree, if there's the right kind of storyline, right kind of chemistry, Vic is replacable. It dsnt seem that history or quality means anything to them anymore. I would think that keeping my main characters doing good stories, attracting more viewers would go towards increasing my bottom line. Having said that Guiding Light was good too…..til they got the same kinds of goofy storylines that we are seeing now on Y&R!! Maybe it's a type of planned obsolescence. Altho, didn’t the writers at ATWT go insane for a while til they snapped back? (I don’t watch anymore) …and what keeps those NBC soaps on the air, haven’t they always been unrealistic/crazy (vampires, etc)??

Do you think they’ll ever release soaps on DVD? popcorn:: I’d go broke buying all of Y&R, early AMC, most of ATWT.
