Yes folks, the XXI Olympic Winter Games begins on Fri, Feb 12, over the Northern border in Vancouver, B.C. Vancouver will be the largest city to host an Olympic Winter Games. The opening and closing ceremonies will be at B.C. Place, a domed stadium. The skiing events is in Whistler, a ski resort larger than Vail. And for those who can't attend, we have to watch on television. The links and networks below can get you real time results....

Vancouver 2010....The official website...

NBC Olympics... Includes USA, CNBC, and MSNBC. Remember the "LIVE" bug during the 2008 summer games? Let's see if the network does it again. Bob Costas is the prime time host and curling should again be the cult sport for the network...

CTV Olympics...The host and home network. Includes TSN, Sportnet, RDS and TQS. The Canadian hockey team goes for the gold medal at GM Place, wait it's called Canada Hockey Place during the games...

Enjoy the games.

Thanks. I've been waiting for this! I plan to DVR and watch during my workouts every night.

I JUST set the timer for the opening ceremonies :D We were fortunate enough to get tickets for a few hockey games and gold medal 1500m speed skating :cool1: I'm hoping it will be a wonderful Olympics and am very proud it's being held here!

Has anyone seen the ruckus with the Aussies and their Kangaroo flag? I think they should be allowed to leave it up. It seems odd, but it was sort of the first real sign that the world has arrived at our corner of the planet:)

My family loves watching the Olympics so much!:lovestruc
It's a true celebration in our house from the opening to the closing and brings back great memories of when DD7 was born, that's what I was watching to keep my mind off of things! (Like labor, literally!) I've always said she'll be a natural born ice skater since that was what I was watching when she was born, but unfortunately, osmosis didn't work, no luck so far...:goodvibes

Oh I am so ready! Every 4 years I become an armchair ice-skating "expert". Dh has been known to walk in me screaming at the television "You call the a triple Salchow??" or "What?? He didn't even get full rotation on that quad!" Usually he just shakes his head and backs slowly out of the room.

During the summer Olympics I often woke him from a sound sleep, jumping up and down on the bed screaming "Faster! Faster!"

wait...that didn't come out right...

I LOVE the Olympics and I'm eagerly anticipating the opening of the Games. In honor of the host country, I plan to make a pot of Le Cellier's Cheddar Cheese soup to enjoy while watching the Opening Ceremony.

Oh, that's a great idea! Do you know where I can find the recipe?:flower3:

Ooh, which hockey games did you get tickets for? I would KILL to be there and see them in person!

I've been looking forward to the Olympics for months. I still have DVDs of all of the hockey games (well, at least from quarterfinals on) from 2002 and 2006...seeing Peter Forsberg with a gold medal (because I was too stupid to be into hockey in 1994, the last time the Swedes won) was a thing of beauty. :goodvibes

Do you have a link to the flag ruckus?

Cheez whiz if the AOC trademarked it you would think they would be happy to have it hanging? Some people get their underwear in a knot over the silliest things:goodvibes

Thanks for the link:thumbsup2

Lucky you! Going to the Olympic Games is on my bucket list - someday I will be there to see a few games. :)

Ya we are lucky, but we also knew that we'd never get another chance to go so we jumped on it.

The hockey games we got were 1 for the preliminary round with Finland vs Belarus, then we also got 2 quarter finals on the same day. We won't get to see Canada play, but if the US makes it to the qualification round.

That is so awesome! I'm sure you will have a great time. :goodvibes

I wish I could go, but my TV will have to settle. I cannot wait for the hockey to start!!
